I want to begin by thanking our very beloved  [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7 because for this match I do believe he has outdone even himself!

Watch and weep!

I have to say, I considered ending the match spam with that. Why continue?

But anyway...

We must continue the process... )

It's art

Someone in the video department over at the dfb website has been feeling very artsy-fartsy recently and graced us with several slow-motion videos of the NT. Which wouldn't be that bad if they didn't also include music that ranged from overly cheesy to overly dramatic and made me facepalm half the time. I blame GEMA and the need for CC-music for this.

Anyway, this time however, they chose a very deserving subject for the video and picked tasteful music. The video is simply called: Mesut Özil - 'Art'. I wholeheartedly agree.

Özil mal anders: Eindruecke vom Frankreich-Spiel

And because that's not the end of the world's love for Mesut these days, the German NT fan club picked Mesut as 'Man of the Match' ahead of Ilkay Gündogan. You can read the english article with yet another heap of praise for Mesut here.

I guess we all watched the game yesterday, and I think we all can be very pleased with the performance of our beloved boy. I won't delve further into analysis here, because that's [livejournal.com profile] jenny_jenkins's job which she does extraordinarly well. Only let me say this: I'm on to you, my darling Captain and you, too, Müller! You prevented a Samisut hug! I wasn't pleased!

The bottom line is: Everyone loves Mesut. The German press was full of well-deserved praise for him, so I thought I should share two articles with you. They've been translated by me, and suzanne410 (we all know she exists, but lj refuses to acknowledge her user name o_O) looked them over. Thanks a lot, darling!

Give me something to read! )

There's still a week to go, but Mesut is blowing away the competition for National Player of the Year - an award he won last year and had no idea he had won until he arrived in Bremen to play France (that is to say, the night before he received it!). It made for an amusing press-conference!

In second place, occasional bromantic interest Miroslav "goal-thief" Klose. Rounding out the top three, Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus.

Mesut's second goal against the Faroe Islands is in the top 5 "goal of the year" poll at the moment, though currently Miro Klose's opener against Sweden and Mario Gomez's opener against those accursed Dutchmen during the Euros are in first and second, respectively!

A picture, for your time!

Voting continues until January 6th, so let's press our thumbs!

Mesut's Boots Get A Declaration of Love, Argentina Match Spam & Pretty Practice Pictures!

Photobucket may be down, but [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7 is as indefatigable as ever!! We have some lovely pictures of practice yesterday with the bug-eyed gorgeous boy looking suitably bug-eyed and gorgeous! And tumblr has a bunch of lovely pics of the ill-fated game against Argentian.

But first - a development in the Nike saga and the Croezil phenomenon - because it would seem Mesut has had his wings clipped, slightly! So we begin with a Facebook update and a declaration of love!

He's imitating Crispy! There's now a '10' in his signature!!

Major Mesuty News Of The Week!

There have been two friendlies, and there will be another this week (with Mesut's national team, Germany, against Argentina). Here are some lovely pictures and gifs and a couple of Facebook updates, courtesy of our beloved [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7

Mesut first met up with Santos Laguna in spiritual home Las Vegas. Happily, Mourinho didn't allow him off the pitch and saw to it he was in New York to meet AC Milan!

I do want to start the spam (aside from posting Belly!pics to get you shameless hussies interested!) by strongly suggesting that community members check out the posts by [livejournal.com profile] suzanne410 and [livejournal.com profile] skywonder9 just before this one. They were able to witness Mesut playing while in the United States, and their posts have lovely candid shots of our crinkly-eared hero.

Miscellany: José Mourinho: "Ozil Is The Best Number 10 In The World" -
Friendly News & Random Samisut!

Real Madrid's coach, Jose Mourinho, has cheerfully and uncontroversially (makes a change!) informed the press of the following during a trip to Turkey:

Mesut Özil es el mejor 10 del mundo. Todos le adoran y ven un poco de Figo y Zidane en él. Hará historia en el Real Madrid...

Mesut Özil is world's best number 10. Everyone loves him and sees a little of Figo and Zidane in him. He'll make history at Real Madrid...

For the record: Mesut played 52 games, made 29 assists and scored 7 goals. Last year: 53 games, 26 assists, 11 goals.

This seems a good opportunity to point out that our beloved [info]andriy_7 once created a lovely spam of pictures of Mesut and Mourinho, complete with press quotations from the pair of them over the past two seasons, which can be FOUND HERE.

Marca Visits Gelsenkirchen, Gifs of Little Javier & Bromantic Training Pictures!

Theo Zwanziger's Farewell Lunch

In a previous entry in this community (the transcript of Mesut's press-conference) we learned the surprising news that Theo Zwanziger (the retiring head of the German Footballing Federation) felt particularly close to Mesut, personally. The DFB said goodbye to Zwanziger over coffee and cake.

This post is quite long, actually... )

Mesut Özil: A World Star Returns - The DFB Feature Write-Up & Mesut As Rapper - Again!

Mesut with little Marko Marin, his midfield partner.

It wouldn't be International week without a massive overload of posts on game-day. Kick -off is in just over 2 hours.

I want this up before the game because this feature write-up and the interview in a separate (which I have excerpted from the larger piece) with Jan Delay is quite lovely. It provides a lovely look at what Mesut's life in Bremen was like before he came to Madrid.

One feature, one interview... )

Salad Days For Samisut & Mesut's Press Conference - Fully Translated!
He Doesn't Have Time For Facebook Anyway & The Natürlich Drinking Game!

Karim Benzema injured for the big game tomorrow, ditto for Lukas Podolski - that means there's no one to cling to Mesut's side making sad puppy-dog eyes this week or to openly and aggressively nibble on his ears!

What is this wetness on my cheek?

Sami, at any rate, seems entirely content with this state of affairs! Quite frankly, he looks like the cat that got the cream!

Jerseys, Training Pics, Interviews, Ronaldo's Interview, Lovely Boys Having Fun! It's All Here!

As you all know, I have come to hugely prefer larger posts. Alas - it backfired this week. As usual, the sheer amount of adorable stuff to come out of the DFB website and publicity machine is so immense that this week's action is going to be split into two posts.

We have [info]andriy_7 to blame for this development, since he certainly doesn't miss a thing! Not a picture, not a gif-worthy moment, not a single video he could upload for us! He even took requests and is to be commended for his patience in dealing with me.

This first post is all the pre-game action, from the arrival in Hamburg to the trip to Ukraine.

Mesut's Post-Match Interview - Germany v Austria

Translated by [livejournal.com profile] sashatwen who notes: Allow me contribute Mesut's interview in which he almost, ALMOST is totally boss until the very last minute when he does manage to fumble. (He was short on time, natürlich. Sami was waiting for his celebratory hug. :D)
