A Brace Against The Faroe Islands: The Mesuty Match Spam

Based on the past three years, September would seem to be our modern-day-hero's favourite month where the national team is concerned. Three goals in two qualification matches during his week with the national team, one of them a penalty against Austria. But first - the Faroe Islands, against whom he got a brace.

I may be nitpicking here... and perhaps it's nothing. But I find it interesting that Mesut's suddenly wearing an Adidas wristband! The first I saw it was in Germany's friendly last week, and then again on Sunday. Probably nothing, but after the whole Nike vs Adidas hubub over the last couple weeks, it's perfect placement stood out to me as I was perusing pictures. And he's never been a wristband wearer that I'm aware of. At the very least, it's a new fashion accessory we can keep an eye on!

Mesut's Boots Get A Declaration of Love, Argentina Match Spam & Pretty Practice Pictures!

andriy_7 is as indefatigable as ever!! We have some lovely pictures of practice yesterday with the bug-eyed gorgeous boy looking suitably bug-eyed and gorgeous! And tumblr has a bunch of lovely pics of the ill-fated game against Argentian.

But first - a development in the Nike saga and the Croezil phenomenon - because it would seem Mesut has had his wings clipped, slightly! So we begin with a Facebook update and a declaration of love!

He's imitating Crispy! There's now a '10' in his signature!!

Back in 2010, when he was still a fresh duckling on the international stage, sponsor Nike called out the year 201Ö and made a series of videos of which the third one answers just this question:

What will happen to Mesut in his old age?

Apparently, he leads a life of luxury, eating healthily, drinking macchiatos (I bet they're out of fashion by then), sleeping in his blue-lit oxygen tank and basking in his old glory like a retired military general... But is he happy?

Strangely enough, the video is rather melancholic in nature and ambiguous in its answer. What does it look like to you?
