[livejournal.com profile] suzanne410 - who sent this interview this evening - should know better than to imagine I would be asleep the night before Arsenal paints the town red!

So I present, Mesut's latest Bild Interview, given today. Translated by me, an anxious [livejournal.com profile] jenny_jenkins

"I want to be the best player in the world...and I am convinced I can do it."

Mesut Özil at Real Madrid

Mesut Özil has every reason to laugh. For
two and a have years he has played at Madrid, he has always
performed. In the Nationalelf he has in 43 games 14 goals.
His Hobby: he doesn't trade jerseys with his opponents but instead
with his teammates. From Bremen times he has one from Tim Wiese and another
from Aaron Hunt in the cupboard. from Schalke: Hamit Altintop and
Kevin Kuranyi. And now out of Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo, Sami Khedira
and Karim Benzema

Mr Özil, this week photos of you in Madrid being intimate with Mandy Capristo have surfaced. Are you newly in love? [The German is worth a glance: Herr Özil, diese Woche sind Fotos aufgetaucht, die Sie sehr vertraut mit der Sängerin Mandy Capristo in Madrid zeigen. Sind Sie frisch verliebt?]

I can assure you, at any rate, that the pictures are not fakes. But I must ask that you understand I have nothing more to say about them.

Then we'll talk about football. [giving up easily Bild!] Bayern have contracted Pep Guardiola. A good decision?

I know him from the duels against Barca - but not personally. I have never spoken to him. When one sees how many titles he has won (14 in 4 years) that speaks for itself.

Who is the best coach in the world for you?

Jose Mourinho!

More Mesutyness beneath... )

(Newspaper article I found today in Die Welt. I was rather shocked reading it and thought I'd share with all of you. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] suzanne410
who helped me translate it from German. All mistakes left are my own ^^.)

According to news from Spain, Mesut Özil doesn’t want to work anymore under Mourinho in the future. On the other hand the Real coach is said to have put Mesut onto a cross-off list. The story of a falling-out. By Florian Haupt.

If half of this is true, then I want Sami to kick Mou's butt. )

In the interests of full disclosure, this is what the German and Spanish press are speculating this week:

That Mesut sat out the game against Manchester City because he has received an offer to go to Manchester City.

I'm not going to copy and paste a newspaper story out of Marca - or As, or Bild - since they are starting to become self-referential.

I suspect, from reading the stories (so you don't have to!) that the rumour arises out of a couple of things (in addition to the usual chattering that happens between people near the club - most of which is rumour and speculation and anyway). But we can use our common sense here:

Thoughts on this rumour... )

Spams for matches over the past two and a half weeks will come over the next few days (with the lad off in Germany we can finally catch up on match spams for various games!) But I have, as I said before Amsterdam, no intention that we shall fall any further behind for the other types of posts.

Mesut, back in Germany

So before the clasico match spam is made up, here are a few of the press voices after the game - because Mesut came in for some extravagant praise following weeks of abuse in the press.

And I'd like to start by thanking [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7 for all that he found for us in the newspapers!

A Bromantic Print Interview, Two Videos, Gifs, & Training News

This interview, which was one of two sent to me yesterday by reader Jose and which I have translated from n-tv.de/sport, has been heavily abridged by me as I was translating it so that the interesting things about Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Jose Mourinho, Joachim Loew, Philipp Lahm, Sami Khedira and Cristiano Ronaldo remain. The rest was the usual repetitive fluff or were things that have come up in interviews over the past week.

It was a Mesuty day today... )

A Traffic-Stopping Performance: Mesut's Copa Del Rey (Away) Malaga Match Report & Spam!

Mesut was to assist the game's only goal, his sixth assist in his last three games, and earn some praise from Alfredo di Stefano while he was at it!

But first he spent the early part of the game looking bug-eyed and adorable on the bench, his hands, as always tucked ever-so-carefully into his sleeves.
