Cristiano Ronaldo's second goal against Valladolid came from a Mesut Özil corner. The Portuguese headed past Jaime in the Valladolid goal to crown yet another assist for the German.

That was the Portuguese's 20th goal from an Özil pass. Together, they have created the highest-scoring partnership in La Liga this century. The Yeste-Urzaiz and Navas-Kanouté partnerships, with 19 goals at Athletic and 18 at Sevilla respectively, are the only ones to even come close the Madrid duo’s statistics in the league.

The Özil-Cristiano Ronaldo partnership has been synonymous with success since the German's arrival at Real Madrid during the 2010/11 season. They have a great understanding on the pitch and are fully in synch. This is easy to understand when you are talking about a player like Özil, who is an expert at finding that final ball and Cristiano Ronaldo, a goal-scoring machine.

There's been talk about Cristiano & Mesut's amazing partnership in this comm recently, and a lovely photo surfaced yesterday of a certain couple to ease our heartbreak after the 4-1 loss. Well, I bring more balm to soothe the pain. Apparently the M&M picture was only one in a series, and the lovebirds didn't spend the entire evening alone.

Mesut, Mandy, Cristiano & Irina allegedly all went to dinner at the same Libanese restaurant in Madrid (sources say these were taken on the 24th). I like to believe the sources are right, but I'm not sure? Help! In any case, more M&M pictures :)

There's been a lot of press about Mesut over the past few weeks. His performance in Valencia received high praise from everyone - from Marca, As, the international press etc... His performance against Getafe also got some attention from Cuatro's cameras.

The Ozil & Ronaldo Society!

The beautiful connection apparent between the two of them is the focus of the video. Together they've scored or created a huge number of goals in the last two league matches - Mesut had a hand in all 5 in Valencia, Ronaldo assisted one directly and scored two of them. And against Getafe, Ronaldo had a hat-trick while Ozil was involved in creating 3 of the goals - the first, second and third of the match (off his corner, off his final pass, and through a break that he orchestrated with Angel di Maria).

Mesut loves Atleti! They are his favourite team...for scoring against :) Highly appropropriate of him to have picked our derby rivals as his favourite victims!

Mesut first met up with Santos Laguna in spiritual home Las Vegas. Happily, Mourinho didn't allow him off the pitch and saw to it he was in New York to meet AC Milan!
