Mesut has finally completely and totally confused me. He is hitting my girl and guy type at the same time.

First of all, many thanks to dearest [livejournal.com profile] bonniebutterfly for sending this on!

Our crinkly-eared, modern day hero will be the star of a short feature film to be shown at the Berlin Football Film Festival!

The film-maker is award-winner Aljoscha Pause - best known for films on the blind Bundesliga and for films examining homosexuality in the sport. His last film, on Zinedine Zidane, won an award!

Mesut, the early years... )

There's been a lot of press about Mesut over the past few weeks. His performance in Valencia received high praise from everyone - from Marca, As, the international press etc... His performance against Getafe also got some attention from Cuatro's cameras.

The Ozil & Ronaldo Society!

The beautiful connection apparent between the two of them is the focus of the video. Together they've scored or created a huge number of goals in the last two league matches - Mesut had a hand in all 5 in Valencia, Ronaldo assisted one directly and scored two of them. And against Getafe, Ronaldo had a hat-trick while Ozil was involved in creating 3 of the goals - the first, second and third of the match (off his corner, off his final pass, and through a break that he orchestrated with Angel di Maria).

We also some lovely gifs - thanks to our dearest [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7  because of course, Cristiano and Mesut celebrated the last goal so beautifully. Cuatro has the reverse angle:

Sami has plainly decided that Mesut may be a pest with an out-of-control Twitter account, too many bromances, and a new Tumblr addiction, but what the hell! Life without bug-eyes is not worth contemplating!

"It may be silly of me, but life without you is not worth contemplating!
"

He's even decided he can put up with Sergio - sort of. Mesut meanwhile is sporting a Cheshire cat grin that suggests he knows he's won this fight.

There's more bromantic intrigue in 4 photographs than you could possibly imagine... )

This boy, I swear to god.  Shipping himself like a pro.

I'm happy that I made a goal on saturday. I am the even happier that Sergio made a goal against Bilbao. And what I like most is that we both made a goal in the same game.

I don't know about you, but I'm still reeling from Mesut's decision to drastically cut his hair. I'm actually taking it harder today than I did yesterday. ;) Maybe because he sprang it on us, without proper warning. I mean, that message he posted last week on his Facebook had us all thinking of some commercially sponsored give-away, right? Not an actual, "Hey- I'm going to mess around with your emotions" kind of surprise. It appears the majority of community members were thrilled to see him return to his cropped haircut, reminiscent of his days back at Werder Bremen. But for posterity's sake, let's take a poll of people's favorite Mesut hairstyle! (And weep for the loss of such beautiful locks... Sorry, I just can't be impartial here!)[Poll #1871924]

So, randomness because I'm bored and awake at the butt crack of dawn nursing the stray kitten I've taken in, and I came across this series of tweets from Sergio:

As it is Monday and we all could use some fun (right?), I thought: Why not start the week with a fashion-spam?
When I decided to make this post and I started looking for the best shots of Mesuts style, I naturally started to look through my small (wait, who am I kidding? It's not small at all) folder with Mesut pictures, and now I'm scared...

ney

I mean...I'm not sure how to even begin. So I felt: Okay, so you were a bad dresser when you were young (who wasn't?), so I'm willing to look through my fingers here (you all just get to laugh at these wonderful pictures).
Let's start with a little bit more recent fashion choices:

Wait, He Wore What?
Sökresultat för ney

Look 1: This is just really weird. Those pants do not look good on you dear. Matching shoes and down vest? No no no! There's really nothing wrong with the pieces by themselves but together they do not look good.

Look 2: Joining the army are you? I Normally wouldn't criticize something that shows off his body, but this shirt...not cute. At all.

Look 3: "Play hard! Die young! Babyface no more!" What now? That's one hell of a weird t shirt. Seriously, I don't even know what to say, mostly because I can't stop laughing. Also, a v-neck with a round neck under? I don't get that.
I do however love the Shamballa bracelet, good to know that he actually was ahead of one fashion trend.

Leather Jackets:

mö

A leather jacket can be your best friend, and also your worst. When you're looking for a leather jacket you should never go for what's trendy at the moment, always look for a classic piece, since a leather jacket tends to get better looking the older it gets.
This way you'll get a jacket you can wear for ages, and look fab in it. Let's hope this isn't the case when it comes to Mesuts leather jacket collection.
To be honest, none of these are particularly good looking. And also, the colors... If you're not Michael Jackson it's quite hard to pull off a bright red leather jacket. As for the black one, it's actually nice. However, if you can't style it, don't wear it. The tan-colored jacket looks like a weird bomberjacket in leather, not hot.

The Scarf Collection:

ney1

Look 1: This jacket is not cute at all. It looks like a regular shirt made out of leather. And for Good's sake, you can't wear a v-neck with a scarf.

Look 2: Oh dear Good. This is just really wrong. First of all, that scarf is horrific. Secondly that beanie doesn't go with the look. Pants and t shirt look okay (except for the seams on the pants, yes I'm picky).

Look 3: Although he looks adorable (and drugged) this isn't a good look for him. Gray, gray and some more gray. Lose the Gucci scarf and wear a white t shirt next time and you'll be alright (btw, take a look at Hamit Altintop. That's how you pull off a leather jacket).

ney2

Look 1: There's really nothing wrong with the clothes (sorry for the small, squeezed in pic) it just doesn't look age appropriate, the cardigan makes him look like a grandpa (yeah, I said it!).

Look 2 & 4: Skull prints? Really? There's a lot of cool t shirts with prints out there, and he picked these?

Look 3: So if the cardigan in look 1 wasn't age appropriate, this backpack sure isn't either. It looks like a 5 year old girls schoolbag. Apparently it's from a German brand called MCM and it can also be seen on Justin Bieber and Chris Brown, that alone should make you think twice about it (no offence JB and Chris). I'm just hoping he got this sponsored and just didn't have another bag to use that day (No Mesut, no thumbs up from me).

The Caps:

yay

No dear, Yo ain't no gangsta! So please stop wearing your cap sideways. You're allowed to wear it straight forward and backwards (if you need to). Nothing else is really wrong with these looks, except for the look on the picture with Anna-Maria (and the skull t shirt).
Seriously what's that shirt? Looks like he works at a Zoo or a weird food chain where they make you wear really ugly work clothes.
Maybe tone down the accessories as well.

And Then He Almost Got It Right...

yay1

Look 1: Hey, hey, hey! This is a really pretty color on him, it brings out his tan very well. His cap is turned forwards and I, for once, like his bling. However it's a little bit to much with everything on at the same time and those headphones around his neck.

Look 2: Can't make up my mind about this one. The print is really fun, and who doesn't love a good Dallas print? The weird thing is that I can't find anything wrong with it, but somehow I'm not loving it.

Look 3: At first sight I thought to myself: did he just get it right? And then I looked a bit closer, and no... Most importantly; why is he wearing a short sleeved t shirt over a long sleeved one? They're both black, and seem to have the same neckline. That's just weird and confusing. Also, again, it's a bit tight. Nice to know that he isn't body conscious though, but maybe pick a larger size next time. Ok?

yay3

Look 1: Aside from the fact that I personally don't like the color of the pants, this looks nice. However, why is he insisting on wearing to small "tops"? Mesut; you're not a large person! It can't be hard to find clothes that fit you (have to add that I'm a little worried about the neckline on Samis t shirt).

Look 2: This is super weird, and I like it! The floral shorts (assuming they're board shorts) are really fun. The mirrored sunnies looks cool (and they're very trendy for SS14, such a fashionista). However, what's up with the little briefcase? Does he have business to attend to on the beach? Strange. Let's hope there's something fun in there.

Look 3: Oh, hello! I like this Dolce & Gabbana t shirt. The jacket looks nice as well. The seams on the pants is on the other hand hideous. Who makes black pants with thick white seams? And more importantly who wears them?

yay2

Look 1: This actually looks good. Wow I'm so surprised to find an outfit that's not weird (in any way) so I just blanked. I really can't think off anything else to say haha.

Look 2: Well this is quite nice too. The square pattern is a little wild for my taste, but it's a fun shirt. I do however wish he could have buttoned it all the way up.

Look 3: (sorry for a terrible picture) Well this would look nice if he could pick a pair of pants that's the right size for him. These are too wide and doesn't go with the look.

Suit Swag:

ney3

Look 1: There's really nothing wrong with the suit. But a light suit should never be paired with a dark shirt. Also I feel like the suit is really hard to style with any type of shirt. It feels like a "summer-party-suit" and it's not event appropriate (at least not with this styling). And, don't hate me for this, but I don't like how they're trying to match each other. Also the shoes aren't right for this.

Look 2: This suit is amazeballs! It's very well fitted as well. But again with the black shirt... This might actually have looked good with the black shirt, but for Good's sake button up! I don't like the Burberry pattern on the inside of the collar. He should also have worn a tie (or a bowtie would have looked adorable).

Look 3: Finally! This look is perfect and he look so handsome! Classic black suit, white shirt and a  skinny tie!

IMG_1851

And I mean, we can't have a fashion spam without this picture. It's priceless! I sincerely hope who ever styled this got fired. This is just wrong.

Conclusion: He can't dress himself and he needs either a lesson in fashion or a stylist (or a girlfriend).

So this was my first post, and I obviously have no idea what I'm doing. If I did something wrong, tell me, and I'll fix it.
Otherwise please tell me your opinions about our fasionista.

Boys Drinking Cola: A Silhouette, General Fashion Review, Random Samisut,
& The State of The Ear!

All right then: a few Mannschaft boys - Tim Wiese, Ilkay Gundogan, Ron-Robert Zieler, Sami Khedira and our very own Mesut Ozil were caught slinking around town questionably dressed, drinking cola and just hanging around looking adorable. As always, the photographs are a gold-mine for those of us who approach these things forensically. We begin with...

The Silhouette

a;ldskfjlsdkfj

I know! It's a miracle! In a group of boys from one of his teams Mesut is not only arguably the best dressed (more on that below) but his silhouette is just unspeakable. Look at this beautiful boy! He should be on a cat-walk in a Paris fashion show! That we all know he has a wonderfully shuffling, unprepossessing walk is only adding to the appeal, I have to be honest.

A Bromantic Print Interview, Two Videos, Gifs, & Training News

This interview, which was one of two sent to me yesterday by reader Jose and which I have translated from n-tv.de/sport, has been heavily abridged by me as I was translating it so that the interesting things about Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Jose Mourinho, Joachim Loew, Philipp Lahm, Sami Khedira and Cristiano Ronaldo remain. The rest was the usual repetitive fluff or were things that have come up in interviews over the past week.

Miscellany: José Mourinho: "Ozil Is The Best Number 10 In The World" -
Friendly News & Random Samisut!

Real Madrid's coach, Jose Mourinho, has cheerfully and uncontroversially (makes a change!) informed the press of the following during a trip to Turkey:

Mesut Özil es el mejor 10 del mundo. Todos le adoran y ven un poco de Figo y Zidane en él. Hará historia en el Real Madrid...

Mesut Özil is world's best number 10. Everyone loves him and sees a little of Figo and Zidane in him. He'll make history at Real Madrid...

For the record: Mesut played 52 games, made 29 assists and scored 7 goals. Last year: 53 games, 26 assists, 11 goals.

This seems a good opportunity to point out that our beloved [info]andriy_7 once created a lovely spam of pictures of Mesut and Mourinho, complete with press quotations from the pair of them over the past two seasons, which can be FOUND HERE.

The Mesuty Miscellany: CR7 Jokes Around,
Rot-Weiss-Essen Comes Into Some Money & Training Pics!

CR7 Jokes Around...

...With Mesut a great deal, with Sami only a little!

Cristiano Ronaldo has been interviewed and has noted the following:

We joke about the Euros and Portugal's match with Germany all the time. I especially do so with Mesut Ozil because he is funnier than Sami, who is more of a serious guy. We (CR7 and Mesut) just say things like, 'Watch out for your legs' or 'I’ll play down your side’ [to the Spaniards]…

Mesut Displays The Usual Refreshing Lack of Modesty & Is Shockingly Muy Feliz

One of the lovely things about being an Ozil fan - there's no false modesty from our bug-eyed, crinkly-eared hero! Any excuse at all and the lad removes his shirt! Also: he looks so sweet with the post-game after-glow and a certain amount of alcohol content in his blood-stream!

And it turns out he knows how to dance (sort of...)

Most importantly though - he has acquired a new nickname! "Sea Bream" or Besugo - bestowed by Iker Casillas, who was caught shouting it at him during the match against Sevilla and used it on Facebook for the following picture:

I would like to begin this post with a directive to our darling members. READ THE POST BEFORE THIS ONE FIRST. It's from [livejournal.com profile] sashatwen and it is bloody brilliant.

Please and Thank you.

I would also like to note that a large number of the photographs you are about to see are quite original and are not (yet) to be seen elsewhere. This is because of [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7's ingenuity and resourcefulness. He has Russian sources for photographs. I'd tell you how he got them, but then we'd have to kill you ;)
