The Mesuty Miscellany: CR7 Jokes Around,
Rot-Weiss-Essen Comes Into Some Money & Training Pics!
CR7 Jokes Around...
...With Mesut a great deal, with Sami only a little!
Cristiano Ronaldo has been interviewed and has noted the following:
We joke about the Euros and Portugal's match with Germany all the time. I especially do so with Mesut Ozil because he is funnier than Sami, who is more of a serious guy. We (CR7 and Mesut) just say things like, 'Watch out for your legs' or 'I’ll play down your side’ [to the Spaniards]…
Mesut in the News – Rot Weiss Essen Comes Into Some Money & More Training Pics
Fan-Liebling – it’s the newspaper’s newest nickname for our bug-eyed hero – who has been gravely quoted telling the Bayern players to “look forward” in nearly every sporting page in Germany. It translates to “fan-favourite” – though it seems slightly more affectionate than that in the original German. The root of the word Liebling is "love", after all.
THIS VIDEO HERE (which I cannot embed) has the team psychologist cheerfully telling the reporters that he has no doubt the team will infect the Bayern players with their harmonious good-spirits and teamgeist when they arrive on Saturday night!
While teammate Sami Khedira joined the training on the pitch, Mesut did not. As lady_teazle has noted, the thing that is most touching about videos coming out of the training camp is the care and attention that the coaching staff put into things: watching the players like hawks, noticing anything and everything. Apparently, they wanted Mesut to have an easier afternoon and had him train indoors with Miro Klose (according to the press).
This haircut has the Jenny stamp of approval!
Meanwhile, Rot-Weiss-Essen, which is in administration, has received the happy news that they will receive the 400,000 Euros that Mesut’s transfer to Madrid has earned them. This will save the club – quite literally – and will even pay for stadium repairs.
Mesut played for them for 5 years (they are one of Schalke’s feeder clubs) and under the rules they continue to benefit any time he transfers to a new club. When Madrid paid between 12-15 million for him, the club was to receive this money, but since they filed for bankruptcy before it arrived there was some question about whether they or the creditors would get the money.
All’s well that ends well yet!
