Post dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] ellapropella, who like me, probably feels orphaned today...

Remembering the year Mesut made three finals and won two of them...

A Trip Down Memory Lane!

Let's start with that time Mesut dumped beer all over his coach after scoring the winning goal for the Bundesliga Pokal...he was interviewed too and when he's told he's "Man des Abends" in this video his self-deprecating shrug and smile (he actually looks surprised!) is TOO CHARMING.

"Thomas Schaaf isn't fast enough for his boys!"

Why are we having this nostaglic post? Because Thomas Schaaf was sacked today by Werder Bremen after 14 years in charge. Bremen have survived the relegation fight for another year, but they are seeking to do better. And Because when Mesut played France in Bremen last year we had some very nice posts about his time at Werder Bremen under Klaus Allofs (deserted the club earlier this year for Wolfsburg) and Schaaf...and I have a few pics of Thorsten Frings...

Frankly, I think they've made a mistake. And not having the sour, dour old man on the sidelines is an awful prospect - Werder Bremen won't seem like Werder Bremen anymore... I have had a small taste today of how awful it will be when Wenger leaves Arsenal.

From Mesut's perspective (the point of this post): they are the two men who brought him to Werder Bremen as a record-signing for a teenager when Schalke 04 ditched him after unsuccessful contract negotiations. It was a very "last-minute" signing.

They were very nice to him. It was good for his career. They let him come to Madrid. Schaaf may be a sour bugger, but he was precisely what a shy lad like Mesut needed for his career.

From the always wonderful Bundesliga Fanatic "The Last Time Werder Bremen Won In Bayern" (Mesut's coming out party - he's had several in his career depending on who you ask! And he always plays well against Bayern.)

From 11Freunde a typically funny piece in the Series "My Favourite Transfer" entitled "Vokuhila und Bierdusche" - which was written this year, actually, and remembers some fine football and some bad hair-days. German speakers are encouraged to head over. I even forgive 11Freunde for today's headline: "Werder schaafts nichts mehr" (OMFG how could they?)

English speakers can revel in my favourite part which I have translated for them and which pokes fun at Borussia Dortmund fans!

The Supercopa Spam Part Two: Stultification, Campeones, Celebrations & A Study In Samisut!

With Livejournal back up and (nearly) running properly, here is part two of the Mesuty spam - as seen through the eyes of [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7 and his beautiful gif creations - comprising the second half and the celebrations for the super copa!

The second half was a fascinating thing to watch. 10 man Barcelona dominated possession in the second half, and nearly got back into the game, for a couple of reasons.

A win and some bromance... )

Campeones! Madrid Wins Its First Trophy of The Year: Madrid v. Barca - Part One - The Mesuty Spam!

As we know from some of the adorable Samisut in this community recently, the lads took home a trophy last week! Here's our (much delayed) Mesuty match spam with beautiful gifs by our beloved [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7

This is part one.

Beautiful goals, much Mesuty melancholy.... )

I've already posted today, but we have two pictures and it is this community's mission to document the Samisut phenomenon in all its many facets!

The first is from the title celebrations -

Samisut in motion is my favourite Samisut!

The second is even more adorable and from Mesut's facebook -

Dead from the cute is a tag for a reason... ).

A Bromantic Print Interview, Two Videos, Gifs, & Training News

This interview, which was one of two sent to me yesterday by reader Jose and which I have translated from n-tv.de/sport, has been heavily abridged by me as I was translating it so that the interesting things about Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Jose Mourinho, Joachim Loew, Philipp Lahm, Sami Khedira and Cristiano Ronaldo remain. The rest was the usual repetitive fluff or were things that have come up in interviews over the past week.

It was a Mesuty day today... )

The Consolidated Celebratory Pic Post!
Mesut Displays The Usual Refreshing Lack of Modesty & Is Shockingly Muy Feliz

One of the lovely things about being an Ozil fan - there's no false modesty from our bug-eyed, crinkly-eared hero! Any excuse at all and the lad removes his shirt! Also: he looks so sweet with the post-game after-glow and a certain amount of alcohol content in his blood-stream!

And it turns out he knows how to dance (sort of...)

Most importantly though - he has acquired a new nickname! "Sea Bream" or Besugo - bestowed by Iker Casillas, who was caught shouting it at him during the match against Sevilla and used it on Facebook for the following picture:

Fabiozil, Crozil, Benzil, Samisut & Stuff... )

Mesut Wins His First League - The Spamming Invitation!

Well he had a brilliant game - an assist, a gorgeous first-touch goal - what an amazing performance to help win the league!

I said last year I'd re-join the church if we won.

After reading the Barca spam in our last community post (which took me four hours to make - not that I'm complaining!) y'all can spam lovely pictures of the celebrations here in this post. Mesuty pictures, Madrid pictures - whatever!

(And please God - get Pepe a camera and an Internet connection like last time!)

Until then:
