Mesut's video-interview upon his arrival has kindly been translated by monpti and follows below.

R: When did you come here the last time?
M: It was 1-1,5 year ago. I came here to visit my uncles, nephews, and of course my country. I am spending my holiday here.





R: Is there a break time in La liga, I don't know your program, how many days do you have?
M: There is one week holiday. I came here for 2 days. I came here to my village. Just like I said, I am so happy. I'll see my friends, my family.



I'm betting Pipita gave him that wallet...and possibly the ghastly jacket too.


R: Your parents aren't here, are they?
M: No, they will come later.
R: What are you going to do here?
M: Of course, first, I'll visit my grandparent's graves, that's why I'm here. And also there are my friends, my brother.





R: You have been built a mosque there. You don't forget your village, event though you've been abroad for a long time.
M: Of course. My childhood was in here. I came here lots of time when my grandparents were alive. It was mostly summer holidays. And now, my uncles, nephews are here, so I'm so happy for being here.





R: what can you say about Nuri and Hamit? They came Madrid too.
M: I also know them in Germany, we are of course really good friends. Now, they are playing at Madrid with me. so I am very happy to be playing with them.





R: Nuri shot his first goal.
M: Yes, it was yesterday. I became so happy. It was nice.



With the town big-wigs. Mesut towered over everyone on his visit.


R: And about you, there is gossip about your transfer to Liverpool, is there any truth to that?
M: I really don't want to talk about that. I am playing in Madrid.




More important people. Getting Mesut to accept the flowers took some effort :)


R: Is there any problem with you and Mourinho?
M: I am on holiday and I don't want to speak about this now.

I kinda adore him going there with his family and all that. I think this kind of grounding is what he needs right now. He will come back to Madrid stronger.

I hope so - they are wearing him out though! He's had to visit factories, and the town hall and all the important people!

Thought I'd leave my comment here... He's so unbelievably, adorably uncomfortable with all the attention, isn't he? And it's hard to know being an English-only speaker, but it appeared to me in the interview that he seems much more comfortable speaking in Turkish. I could very well be wrong, and maybe it's simply the interview situation that has him more relaxed, but he didn't seem to fumble on his words, and smiled quite often. Something about the little head lift and slight smile around 2:20-2:30 was quite delightful. ;) And I'm still holding out that while he's home with family someone will cut his hair... just a bit. You know I love it no matter what. ;)

His Turkish does seem more fluent. It's funny to listen to because he speaks it with PRECISELY the same intonation as he speaks German. It's uncanny!

As for the hair...indeed. The lovely lady he was kissing on her hands in the next post is his mother. Let's hope she cornered him with her scissors. He looks fabulous in the television interview I posted today though. Really, really good.

Oh my goodness Jenny!I'm so glad you had the foresight to start this community. I'd be so incredibly sad to not have you (and andriy_7) and all that you have to tell and show us about Mesut. I will definitely continue to visit here... I couldn't stay away if I tried!
