Pictures of Mesut with PM Erdogan in the lovely post by jorzil yesterday bring back many memories of our well-brought-up young lad in his other political adventures! There's no point denying it - he's a bit of a political animal (if a somewhat reluctant one) whose tact and goood sense always wins the day!

Karim Benzema injured for the big game tomorrow, ditto for Lukas Podolski - that means there's no one to cling to Mesut's side making sad puppy-dog eyes this week or to openly and aggressively nibble on his ears!




Sami, at any rate, seems entirely content with this state of affairs! Quite frankly, he looks like the cat that got the cream!

Mesut did not play in Istanbul. His Achilles tendon was still sore and the doctors would not pass him fit. Joachim Loew (as he put it himself today in an interview following the match) "will not risk Mesut with an injury under any circumstances."

Dearest friend in the entire world Sami Khedira had the following to say in a very sharp interview with SportBild yesterday (entitled: "The Discussion Surrounding Me Is Lacking In Respect"). Unlike Mesut, who is a rather bland interview subject at the best of times, Sami never has a problem telling the scum in the German sporting press what's what!
