Mesut Met The Prime Minister of Turkey...

And he presented him with a signed jersey from all the Madrid players. Alas, he kept his shirt on this time...

...unlike that last time!

Mesut's most famous photograph!

PM Erdogan attended Germany's game in Berlin in October of 2010 of course. Germany thrashed Turkey 3-0, thanks in part to Mesut's goal (the second of the match). Mr Erdogan attended the game with Chancellor Merkel and was very diplomatically dressed for the occasion!

Note: highly diplomatic scarf!

At any rate, the cabinet turned up too - and so did Mesut's brother, who is on the far right (in jeans!) -

Real Madrid Christmas Greetings Are Released!

Carefully decked out to match Sami Khedira (I'm betting they arranged this!) Mesut sent Madridistas his Christmas Greetings. He looked unaccountably nervous during the slight pause before Sami Khedira launched in and even encouragingly moved closer to him. Afraid of another take?

It hardly matters, and the boys were looking awfully handsome, actually - a fact noted by the RealMadrid.com people, who used our colour-coordinated boys as the lead in on the site's portal!

And frankly - a finer looking pair of boys you will never see!

Some Final Turkish Delight

Mesut has now left Turkey, but not before being hauled around meeting Prime Ministers, some more municipal officials, the town's mayor, and looking rather bug-eyed and sweet while doing it. It does seem as though the entire town filed into the house at one point.

They certainly adore him in Turkey, there's never been any question of that! And Mesut was very nice to his fans.

He gave hugs -

This is Jenny in a few years.

And he behaved like a lovely boy, kissing the ladies' hands and pressing them to his forehead like the well-brought up lad that he is.

Mesut with his mother - who hopefully cooked him some meleman!

He also signed one of Kaka's jerseys for some lucky fans  -

Lucky fans - pointing out Mesut's signature.

And a Bayern Munich Jersey which almost certainly had Hamit Altintop's name and number on it (a hero in Turkey, of course, as captain of his National team) -

He also received a local football club jersey in return -

Hung out with adoring children -

It may be the drinking water, but the kids from this town, Mesut included, are awfully cute!

Met the mayor -

Received inexplicable gifts with a wide smile -

And TOWERED over everyone in the village!

"Is this what it feels like to be Per Mertesacker??"

So - a busy week for Mesut, standing in for Altintop and Kaka's fans, meeting lots of people, making presents, and contributing, in that inimically sweet way he has, to harmonious Turkish-German relations!

This post's work was all done by [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7, who found most of the pictures, uploaded the videos and did the research all without his brothers' help ;)

Much love to you darling ;) and many Mesuty kisses and cuddles.
