I woke up to the most wonderful news today! Thanks to Una Madridista I learned that Real Madrid has finally released their summer tour schedule. I've been waiting, very impatiently, so that I could organize my own summer plans. I know, that's a little insane, but what can I say? It's something I've come to look forward to each year.

Sami Scoffs at the Mesut & Mourinho Rumours, Mesut Hits 8 Million on FB & More Samisuty Christmas Cheer!

Sami Khedira gave a typically calm and almost disdainful interview to the press chiefly concerning our lad today. That interview is below the cut. But first (a small note):

Yes, that's right. Our darling lad has finally reached 8 million Facebook followers - only a few weeks after Iker Casillas managed the same number, as it happens. As far as I'm concerned, the race is on. Mesut never used to post on his Facebook (or rather, Nike would post every 2 months some picture of his cleats). With him interacting more with fans (a cynic would say he's about to sign a record-breaking new boot sponsorship-deal and knows precisely how to practically illustrate his appeal to fans) he should continue climbing up the ranks!

Mesut and his teammates gathered yesterday for the 2012-2013 official team photo session. Obviously, here he is with Sergio and Higuain throwing up mysterious hand signs again. I'm not sure I get why he's holding up four fingers- Anyone know? And for those of us that study his hands, I'll point out that this is a perfect example of when his look like a toddler's to me. The only thing missing is the dimples on the knuckles. :)

Samisut Adorableness In The German Camp & Stunning Press Conference Pictures & Gifs!

In addition to organizing a doubtless stressed-out

andriy_7's perfectly AMAZING gifs of the Barcelona game (they haven't gone missing darling! I'm trying to do them justice with a properly written match review!) I did stumble across some Samisut Adorableness on tumblr that really, really needs to be shared!

The Mannschaft's biggest fangirl, Chancellor Angela Merkel, had dinner with the boys yesterday evening on her visit to Poland and apparently chatted amicably with Mesut.

Three things of note!

1. Look at his perfect posture! This is such a well-raised boy.

2. Apparently, Mesut does not need to watch his weight, or he just does not care. Sami looks slightly jealous. (Or he just stuffed himself with duplos in an effort to finally get that Mesut Özil collectible sticker, which *i* have been unable to find so far. Just saying.)

3. Kind of awesome artwork there.

Of course, we all know who Angie was especially excited about (let's face it, she is *in love*):

I don't think we've had this piece of news here, no?

In June, the Dfb will auction off twenty-six Mannschaft portraits by Vancouver-based artist Nahid Shahalimi for its "Egidius Braun" charity - Mesut's among them. All proceeds will go into funding a children's home in Katowice, Poland, as well as a children's cultural center and a pediatric cancer ward in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

Özilers! If you want a signed Mesut for your wall, this is your time to act! It's for a good cause!

Incidentally, Ms. Shahalimi approached the dfb with the idea to the delight of her little nephew, who called her up in Germany asking for a Mesut Özil autograph. (See, Jenny? He's popular with kids all over!)

Unfortunately, she seems to have chosen the GQ cover as a reference, resulting in our crinkly-eared darling looking not entirely like himself. *g*

In a previous entry in this community (the transcript of Mesut's press-conference) we learned the surprising news that Theo Zwanziger (the retiring head of the German Footballing Federation) felt particularly close to Mesut, personally. The DFB said goodbye to Zwanziger over coffee and cake.

As you all know, I have come to hugely prefer larger posts. Alas - it backfired this week. As usual, the sheer amount of adorable stuff to come out of the DFB website and publicity machine is so immense that this week's action is going to be split into two posts.

We have

andriy_7 to blame for this development, since he certainly doesn't miss a thing! Not a picture, not a gif-worthy moment, not a single video he could upload for us! He even took requests and is to be commended for his patience in dealing with me.

This first post is all the pre-game action, from the arrival in Hamburg to the trip to Ukraine.

The Wishfulfillment Post - Mesut In A Suit (Sort Of!) Looking Bug-Eyed At The Audi Event!

Yesterday I logged into Hotmail to discover a message from

lovinthelads over the LJ messaging system. It read as follows: Please GOD tell me you have unwatermarked pic of Mesut in a driver's suit because I am hot and bothered THINKING about it.

Well, my darling, you weren't seriously doubting the powers of

andriy_7 were you - purveyor of original high-quality gifs and unwatermarked pictures? And while I'm flattered you've taken to calling me "God", it's quite unnecessary! "Jenny" will do just fine :-)
