Summertime, Summertime, Sum-Sum-Summertime! Real Madrid's Summer Tour!

I woke up to the most wonderful news today! Thanks to Una Madridista I learned that Real Madrid has finally released their summer tour schedule. I've been waiting, very impatiently, so that I could organize my own summer plans. I know, that's a little insane, but what can I say? It's something I've come to look forward to each year.

After last year's three-day trip following the team around from New York to Philadelphia I decided I wasn't going to be able to do that again this summer for a number of reasons, but mainly, expense. The only way I'd get to see them was if by some crazy chance they decided to come to Washington, DC. They hadn't come here in the past, so I began sending them subliminal messages...

It's a beautiful city! We have lots of football fans in this area! It's a central location with easy transportation! You can tour the White House! Meet the president! Think of the publicity!

So, according to Una who said according to Marca, they WILL be returning to the States this summer... training in LA again, playing a friendly there on August 1st, then one Aug. 4th in Phoenix, then one Aug. 7th in WASHINGTON DC, and finishing up in Miami on Aug. 11th.

Prior to coming to the US, they will play friendlies on July 22 and 24 in Istanbul against Galatasaray. Nice for Mesut to get to go back to Turkey again! And surely it'll be nice and warm by then so they should be able to go swimming in that gorgeous pool that we didn't get to see them in. ;)

Also, they will go to Goteborg, Sweden at the end of July.

So... consider this an invitation! Come to DC this summer! I can show you around! I'll cook for you! Plus, I've honed my excellent stalking skills over the last several summers, so we can go on adventures together! :D

Seriously, I hope some of you get to go to one of these friendlies. I cannot put into words how amazing it is to see Mesut play in person. It's truly magical. He's ten times as graceful, quick, elegant, and well, gorgeous, as he is on TV. It's something I wish for every one of his fans to experience one day!

BUMMER. Asia again??? I saw them in DC back in 2011 and I was hoping after taking a year off they'd come back!

I'm trying to get a ticket for the Valladolid match because I'll be in Barcelona then. I mean, I know I can get A ticket, it's getting a decent seat without breaking the bank that's the problem.

I'm definitely planning to see La Roja in the States in any case! They were my first love <3.

I haven't heard a thing! But I've got some people with connections at FedEx and RFK so depending on which stadium they go to, I SHOULD be able to get tickets during pre-sale.

if I bust my bum the next couple of weeks and take double shifts at every possible opportunity, I will find a way to see them in Los Angeles - it'll be lucky number four for me so it kinda feels like tradition. and if I can convince someone, definitely going to try and drive down to Phoenix for the game just because.

I just hope they pick a better place to host the match, because the low numbers of the past few stadiums and the area have been pulling teeth for me to have even considered going in the past. :|

I wish I could go and see them, because I'm sure it's cheaper and easier to get tickets, but location-wise it'd actually be a lot easier for me to just go and see them at the Bernabéu lol. I hope everyone has fun, though! And that you all can go.

WOOOOOOW. You are very, very fortunate! This is a dream of mine! I only get to see piddly little friendlies that don't matter and lack all pomp and circumstance. If I had the opportunity to see a match at the Bernabeu I'd jump on that!

Well, it's not that easy. Spain is really not so far away, but I'd still have to buy tickets and make a relatively long drive/take a plane. I meant easier as in I actually live in Europe XD

I became a fan of Mesut and RM last summer after the Euros and was saving money to go to LA this summer. Good thing I won't have to!! This will be my absolute FIRST time watching any match in person and I therefore have absolutely NO IDEA what seats will be the best. Please help...I would love to get seats near fellow Mesutophiles :)

Will you go to DC or one of the others? As far as seats... I've had three experiences, one of which was at FedEx field in DC (Maryland actually).

I watched Barca play Man. United from the second tier seating at FedEx. For me it was way too far away. Yeah, I could see the team as a whole, but you struggled to make out individual players. For my purposes, ;) I want to be CLOSE. I'm assuming Real will go to FedEx and not RFK when they come. If so, I'll get seats as close as possible I imagine.

In Philly, we had front row in the 100's. I got awesome shots of the players... it was so cool to be that close. But of course, you lose the perspective of watching the game from above. I actually didn't mind at all. I felt at that particular stadium we were far enough off the ground to have a decent view of the game at large.

I bought tickets for the Germany game at RFK stadium in DC for this June. I was told the 200's (second tier) were best, but it's a smaller stadium then FedEx. So that's what I got with the hope that I'll be able to shimmy my way down to get close before and after the game.

So, LONG ANSWER, but it depends on your purposes! As well as which stadium (and opponent?) they play. Check back with me once we know this info (and when tickets go on sale!) and we can figure it out!

I definitely want to be close too! I would rather have up-close-and-personal views and photos of the players since I can always get birds' eye views on television.

Thank you soo much!!! I should have made clear that I live in Maryland and will be going to the DC match, I would love to get seats with other community peeps :) I am still on the fence about the Germany game because I am afraid that Sami and Mesut won't be there. Thanks again and I can't wait to see him (and the rest) in person!!!

This is what I get for deciding to spend my summer elsewhere than in Sweden, damnit! But if my plans fall through I know where I'll be on the 27 of July heeeheee! Unfortunately the tickets were already sold out, but hopefully I'll get my hands on some anyway. In that case I'll appreciate some stalking tips, I've come to realize that I would suck as a spy. And if there are any Mesut or Real fans planing a trip to Sweden I'll offer the same thing as @suzanne410 ;)
