I guess we all watched the game yesterday, and I think we all can be very pleased with the performance of our beloved boy. I won't delve further into analysis here, because that's

The bottom line is: Everyone loves Mesut. The German press was full of well-deserved praise for him, so I thought I should share two articles with you. Sami Scoffs at the Mesut & Mourinho Rumours, Mesut Hits 8 Million on FB & More Samisuty Christmas Cheer!

Sami Khedira gave a typically calm and almost disdainful interview to the press chiefly concerning our lad today. That interview is below the cut. But first (a small note):

Yes, that's right. Our darling lad has finally reached 8 million Facebook followers - only a few weeks after Iker Casillas managed the same number, as it happens. As far as I'm concerned, the race is on. Mesut never used to post on his Facebook (or rather, Nike would post every 2 months some picture of his cleats). With him interacting more with fans (a cynic would say he's about to sign a record-breaking new boot sponsorship-deal and knows precisely how to practically illustrate his appeal to fans) he should continue climbing up the ranks!

Mesut loves Atleti! They are his favourite team...for scoring against :) Highly appropropriate of him to have picked our derby rivals as his favourite victims!

Here are some final nice pics of him getting love from his teammates (most of it Portuguese love!) but first I found Youtube footage of all of Mesut's goals against them over the past two and a half seasons. He has scored 4 goals and I'd like to share them with the community!

Sami has plainly decided that Mesut may be a pest with an out-of-control Twitter account, too many bromances, and a new Tumblr addiction, but what the hell! Life without bug-eyes is not worth contemplating!

He's even decided he can put up with Sergio - sort of. Mesut meanwhile is sporting a Cheshire cat grin that suggests he knows he's won this fight.

A Brace Against The Faroe Islands: The Mesuty Match Spam

Based on the past three years, September would seem to be our modern-day-hero's favourite month where the national team is concerned. Three goals in two qualification matches during his week with the national team, one of them a penalty against Austria. But first - the Faroe Islands, against whom he got a brace.

You wouldn't know it from his typically delighted match-day expression,
but this boy was about to score a brace!

Bug-eyes scored a penalty today in Germany's absurdly lucky win over Austria. This is not a review of that game (I still have 54 splendid gifs courtesy of andriy_7 to go over - and 244 stills - and that's for the Faroe Islands!) but a look at the final Liga game and a review of Mesuty news up to the match in Vienna.

It's been rave reviews for his performance against the Faroe Islands.

But there has also been badly informed speculation about Mesut in Madrid this week in the German press (who simply copy what the Spanish has to say - and those papers have to fill up their pages somehow!

The Supercopa Spam Part Two: Stultification, Campeones, Celebrations & A Study In Samisut!

With Livejournal back up and (nearly) running properly, here is part two of the Mesuty spam - as seen through the eyes of

The second half was a fascinating thing to watch. 10 man Barcelona dominated possession in the second half, and nearly got back into the game, for a couple of reasons.
