Today is the day Mesut debuted for Madrid 2 year ago. He arrived on the 17th of August and this post has a few of the pictures and videos that emerged in that first week, as well as a run-down of his first match against Hercules Alicante - a friendly on August 22, 2010.

Photobucket may be down, but [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7 is as indefatigable as ever!! We have some lovely pictures of practice yesterday with the bug-eyed gorgeous boy looking suitably bug-eyed and gorgeous! And tumblr has a bunch of lovely pics of the ill-fated game against Argentian.

But first - a development in the Nike saga and the Croezil phenomenon - because it would seem Mesut has had his wings clipped, slightly! So we begin with a Facebook update and a declaration of love!

Major Mesuty News Of The Week!

There have been two friendlies, and there will be another this week (with Mesut's national team, Germany, against Argentina). Here are some lovely pictures and gifs and a couple of Facebook updates, courtesy of our beloved [livejournal.com profile] andriy_7

Mesut first met up with Santos Laguna in spiritual home Las Vegas. Happily, Mourinho didn't allow him off the pitch and saw to it he was in New York to meet AC Milan!




I do want to start the spam (aside from posting Belly!pics to get you shameless hussies interested!) by strongly suggesting that community members check out the posts by [livejournal.com profile] suzanne410 and [livejournal.com profile] skywonder9 just before this one. They were able to witness Mesut playing while in the United States, and their posts have lovely candid shots of our crinkly-eared hero.

I can't believe I managed to capture his lashes on film! It
probably says more about his lashes than it does my photography!


Just to give you a little background... Two weeks ago I was preparing a two day trip to Philadelphia to see Real Madrid face Celtic in a preseason friendly match. My life was relatively well-planned, hotels were booked, child care was arranged, and details were set. The tickets had been purchased well in advance- front row- and I pretty much knew what to expect having experienced this exact stadium  last summer. I looked forward to it with bated breath, but relatively unstressed.

Another day in Los Angeles! The boys spent their time, according to the Real Madrid website, doing technical jumps and intensive ball-work.

Meanwhile, on the Bromantic front we have a familiar sight: Mesut fussing with his jersey, Mourinho looking at him bemusedly, Sami standing near-by and a helplessly jealous Karim Benzema -

Yes indeed! Mesut is the subject of a book - available here - that is to be released shortly. It is entitled "Mesut Ozil: On The Path To World Stardom". I shall be ordering it, of course, and if anything interesting or new to the community is revealed I shall certainly be providing a translation for all of you!

Hopefully it will have interviews with people who know him and not just with Mesut; to make it a more interesting read, if you know what I mean ;)

I've never posted anything before so I'm quite literally shaking here... but I figured we needed something to take our minds off the depressing, public-image downward spiral of the last few days. And it was only yesterday I said I wanted to be making fun of bathing suits!




I am assuming this one of Sami is recent because I don't think we've seen it before. The picture of Mesut is from last summer's vacation in Miami. I love that I know these things!

So... how does this happen? It was bad enough that Sergio was also wearing these same trunks last summer. But now... a third party?! And a year later?! It's not only strange, but those are oh so last season! How does this happen? I really want to hear theories on this!

Someone please take this down if it's old news, done improperly, or whatever!
