BREAKING NEWS: Karim "War Kitten" Benzema Finds New Love?

Our Benz has apparently grown tired of playing second (or third ... or fourth ... or ... ) fiddle to Bambi's primary bromantic interest(s). Considering he's tall, dark and handsome, am surprise Varane hasn't attracted more attention from both team mates and fan(girl)s. Benz is taking it slowly. He's been reading up on some Flirting 101, apparently. He's starting slow, simply complimenting Rapha's lovely bib. Either that or he's being the fussy wife unhappy with the state of her hubby's clothing. My mom does this all the time whenever my dad wears a suit. Drives him nuts. But they've been happily married for almost 30 years, so maybe Benz is onto something here.
A new name for the happy couple ... ? Benzane? Raphim?
Of course, he could just be doing this to make Özil jealous. But did it work?

Damn you, Sergio! Stop distracting him!

Don't worry, Benz. You'll get the chance to impress him again tonight. Another lovely assist, allowing Mesut to score against City and he'll maybe let you sit next to him on the plane back home!
Good luck, boys! Hala Madrid! :D

It's a hard knock life (for a third wheel)

Date: 2012-11-21 10:43 pm (UTC)Yes, they made it to the knockout round, but still. Mou should be fined for depriving the global fan community of any Serzil, Samisut or Benzil action. Nothing against Luca Modric. He is a nice guy and all. But boy do I prefer Özil in that position.

Date: 2012-11-21 10:50 pm (UTC)I was expecting at least for Özil to be brought on in the last fifteen minutes or so. He's played really well in his last couple of matches, and there were free kicks flowing abundantly tonight. Would have fancied his chances.
Also, someone beatify Iker already, because he already is a saint in my eyes! Yeah, City got their stolen penalty, but otherwise Iker was great tonight :)
no Mesut, no love
Date: 2012-11-22 12:50 am (UTC)anyway, city gets a penalty for everything!!!! like against Dortmund, gosh! Dortmund sooo should have won!!!(still cant believe Lewan missed THAT!!!!!!!!!), bt with that aside, they still won the group, so its all good. this yr, theres no point trying 2 quality top since there r gonna be a few big team qualifying 2nd, ie, Real, Schalke/Arsenal, Bayern/Valencia, Chelsea if they r lucky!!!!!!! and Juv~
still think Dortmund are the dark horse of the competition! i mean top of the group in the group of death (:O) and no defeat...yet. bt shouldnt be too hyped, since look where that got Germany in the Euros (TTTTTTTTT.TTTTTTTTT seeing Mesut upset was so sad :( and Basti >.<)
Mourinho's mind...
Date: 2012-11-22 07:03 am (UTC)He said that BEFORE Real played City the first time.
A month on, his mindset obviously hasn't changed.
Mesut has never been the best trainer in the world - he always looks half-bored ("it's not a real game...") - that lack of "conviction" (for want of a better word I can't think of) may have put him in Mourinho's bad books.
For someone with a strong self-confidence/personality (CR7 springs to mind) that may just be perceived as a challenge.
For someone who has a "shy" personality to begin with - possibly lack of self-confidence - that may translate to a falling feeling in the stomach - a self-fulling downward spiral.
Mourinho SHOULD be smart enough to know this/recognize this.
Maybe this is his way of trying to toughen up Mesut - but it ain't workin'!
This is like the kid who falls behind in school but who has too much pride to ask for help.
Soon they are so far behind they are too far behind to catch up.
Whatever "it" is Mesut still has "it" - he has been turning "it" on for Germany this season.
Yet, the minute he goes back to Madrid, it's like his mind switches off - self-fulfilling prophecy.
If Modric was brought in with the idea of getting Mesut to give 5% or 10% more it's not working, it's like he's despairing in a corner somewhere, crying on his own because he can't do the homework.
At that point, as Mourinho said "football is not a priority" - I'm not surprised if football is not a priority in Mesut's life. Would you want something in your life that was making you miserable?
He probably goes to the training ground, goes through the motions - half-heartedly, which does not impress Mourinho - has a laugh with the boys, which does not impress Mourinho - and gets out of there as fast as he can.
And who can blame him?
Mourinho needs to offer an olive branch before he loses the best playmaker he/Real Madrid have ever had (the stats back up that comment).
Mourinho needs to offer an olive branch before CR7 is asking where the final pass is coming from: CR7 scored 80+ goals for Utd, in 3 seasons for Real he's scored 160+, quite a few with the assist of a crinkly-eared German who needs some assistance himself right now!!!

Date: 2012-11-22 11:39 am (UTC)Has Mesut recently stated he isn't happy? I mean, I did read somewhere that he's displeased about Modric, but 'football isn't not a priority' - really, he's talking about Özil? Mesut has been really good in Die Mannschaft, though (those lovely babieeeees I want to squish them all together in a big squishy pile and sing to them in awful German courtesy of Google Translate).
Re: Mourinho's mind...
Date: 2012-11-22 12:18 pm (UTC)Özil definitely strikes me as the type to slack off when given the chance, or when he thinks he doesn't need to give it 100% when just 60% will do. But, again, he has delivered in the past few Real games (and his freekick saved their butts against Dortmund) so it just came as a shock to me that he was suddenly left out of the starting lineup and never even made it onto the field, even when Real was staring down the barrel near the end. Mou had stated prior to the game that City's chances of advancing were small, so maybe he didn't think it necessary to play Özil, but still ...
Also, I don't quite buy the "Mou won't put on a player because he doesn't think they're committed enough." Why won't he then let Kaka play more often? The guy's been great in the few games he's been in, and he certainly is committed to proving his worth, and yet once again he was on the bench.
It *could* be that Mou opted to play certain players in certain matches.
Özil only played the last 25 minutes against City in the first leg. Seeing as Real were one man down and had just conceded a goal, and a tie would be enough to secure a place in the next round, Mou opted to batten down the defense rather than try for another goal.
Özil played the full 90 minutes (Mou rarely keeps on the field for an entire match) in both games against Dortmund, probably because his familiarity with some of the players (Hummels, Reus, Gotze, etc.) could work in Real's advantage.
Considering how instrumental Kaka was in the thrashing of Ajax in the first leg, am curious to see whether Mou will continue this tactic and have him in the starting lineup again, leaving Özil on the bench.
I certainly don't dismiss Mou's choices. He is the Special One for a reason (though am I the only one who thinks that title is kinda ... belittling? Sounds like something people would call a person with a physical or mental handicap: "Oh, him? Yeah, he's ... We like to call him the 'Special One'." O_o). And frankly I think his tough-love attitude is exactly what's needed to keep Özil in line. I like me some Mesut--Okay, I FUCKING LOVE me some Mesut, but he has his faults and the one that stands out the most to me is his somewhat slacker-ish attitude to the game. Unlike someone like, say, Ronaldo, who, love him or hate him, clearly gives 200% at all times, I sometimes see a bit of high school me in Özil (mind out of the gutter, ladies) in that I too had that mentality of: "Well, I *could* study for weeks, do all the exercises, and score a 10 ... but if I just leaf through the book the night before the exam and highlight a few things here and there and get a 6 it's still a passing grade, so why do more than I have to?"
Re: Mourinho's mind...
Date: 2012-11-22 03:15 pm (UTC)But since I've only recently become a fan (shock, gasp: the wasted years!), does Mesut have the same tendency to slack off in games with Germany? Or is it just a Real Madrid thing?
He did say somewhere that the arrival of Modric doesn't really bother him and he's happy to compete for his place, which means he's probably going to be more consistent or something.
Re: Mourinho's mind...
Date: 2012-11-22 03:37 pm (UTC)Had his overall performance been poor then that's one thing, but the fact that he played poorly for Real at the start of the season but great for Germany made people wonder whether something was going on at Real. I don't think it affected him because his games for Germany have all been good/great. Maybe, despite what he says (he's not a very convincing liar), the arrival of Modric *did* rattle him a bit, even though Modric hasn't necessarily replaced Özil's role of playmaker, since Modric prefers to play deeper, alongside Xabi.
AND EVEN SO, Özil seems to be pulling out of his dip at Real. Hopefully he'll just keep improving.
Re: Mourinho's mind...
Date: 2012-11-22 03:46 pm (UTC)Interesting game...
Date: 2012-11-22 10:45 am (UTC)Dunno about the ref decision on giving a second yellow to Arbeloa! And the penalty.. pfftt..
When Sami was down... I was like... not AGAIN! But happily he just stopped the ball with his face (again).
Benzema got a bit injured? :( He went off limping ?
Cris (Aka RonRon :D) was not happy with the ref... all those hand gestures :D lol. But it was soo sweet of him to help out the other team's player (he got a muscle cramp??).
Sergio.. as always... got a yellow card! :D
And Mou's reaction to RonRon's ALMOST goal!!! And the reaction to the added 5 min... LOL! (look at gif on Tumblr!!)
It was an entertaining game tho!!! I really enjoyed it!!!
I laughed soo hard yesterday when I saw this (made/posted by user tienecojones)
Ooooh I kinda feel sorry for Cris... those fans were brutal... All the booing and finger flipping...

Date: 2012-11-22 12:16 pm (UTC)Couldn't go back to sleep, though, so I trolled Tumblr for Die Mannschaft goodness - otherwise known as my personal rainbows of happiness. Didn't really pay much attention to the game since I dislike both teams, but I did start thinking of all the Silva/Johnson fics that I love. Ah. Well.
(sdjskdjskdjksd Germany's next match is still 02/2013, right? THAT'S LIKE FOREVER AWAY! WHY???)
look at the poor baby, out on the bench.
oh darling Mesut:

Like high school!au adorable. Are there any high school!au fics of the German team out there? I need them now since next year is such a long wait.
Personally, though, I'd rather it was
meSami sitting next to him on the bench, whispering sweet German nothings. ;Pno subject

God, Real's fashion sense - just imagining it would hurt my poor, poor eyes.
