Holger Badstuber - Bayern's comedy centre-back and German national teammate to Mesut and Sami - is looking forward to meeting up with "Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira" in the semi-final.

Madrid thrashed Apoel Nicosia yesterday, so Madrid will meet Bayern for the 21st time in European competition. No two teams from different leagues have met up so often.

Sami's Birthday - The Samisut Birthday Spam


It was community favourite Sami Khedira's birthday yesterday. He's in bed with tonsillitis (the poor duck!) but that won't keep us from celebrating.

He's just amazing.

It could all be true, of course. But in the interests of complete accuracy: the older woman was 26 (she simply married very, very young at first) - and a very charming, very youngish woman she was too - and she dumped him, rather than the other way around. And as a close Mesut-observer I have to say - I think it was a very one-way decision!

Your comment gives me the opportunity to put something down something out that has always puzzled me. There is NO SUCH THING as Samisut fic in German. No fic of any kind with Sami. Mesut is written with everyone else - but NEVER with Sami. He's always "the best friend".

There's something that Germans have picked up on with Sami - which I suspect is based on linguistics. Or as sashatwen put it once: we consider him tiresomely heterosexual!

As for Mesut - I always suspected the Aida Yespica rumours were true - to the horror of his puritanical tumblr fans! Why constantly visit Milan otherwise?

I think in an ideal future we won't joke about it - we'll openly speculate like we would with any romantic attachment. Sadly, we are many years away from that.

Now you have to excuse me - I have to listen to this fascinating thing you've suggested! I love BBC podcasts!

Not only is there no Samisut, in most ffs I stumbled across (oh, the horror I had to endure ;___;), there's no Sami at all! It's like he doesn't exist! And they're not best friends! Even when the fic is set with the NT, Sami rarely plays an important role. It's always Poldi or Marko Marin, and I JUST DON'T GET IT!!! Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!?! Don't they see??!? Don't they watch the games or look at pics?!? Also, the level of writing skills just sucks in german football fanfic. It's horrible. I haven't read such bad fanfic in ... scratch that, I've never read such bad fanfic before, and I started reading fanfic when I was around TWELVE. Which means I read stuff by other twelve year olds. And they weren't as bad as some of the stuff the german football fandom comes up with. I could complain endlessly about it, but I already do that to Jill, so I won't bore you with it ^^.
