Tick-Tock Tick-Tock: A New Endorsement for Mesut! Cyrus Geneve Watches

Swiss watchmaker, Cyrus Genève has signed Mesut Özil, the Real Madrid football superstar and member of the German national team, as the new brand ambassador for its exclusive chronographs.

The 24-year-old star athlete will wear the stylish watch in international campaign motifs that include print, online and POS promotions. In addition, global charity projects will play a central role in the cooperation.

Laurent Lecamp, co-founder and CEO of Cyrus, said:

"I admire Mesut Özil for his precision as a sportsman as well as his characteristic modesty and sense of family. He embodies professionalism paired with vitality and team spirit. This connects him with the vision of Cyrus and makes him the ideal representative of our brand."

Mesut Özil added: "Cyrus is a strong, young brand that stands for using the finest materials to create perfect quality and the highest art of watch making. As a part of the cooperation, Mesut Özil will also get a chance to show his creativity in designing an exclusive model for Cyrus.


Somehow, I get the impression that Mesut's quote was helped-along by his publicist. :) It sounds nothing like him.

I'm hoping this will mean LOTS of pictures of his HANDS (meowliz, I know you're with me on this). And maybe a commercial or two? I've been dying for him to do some new advertisements.

Am I the only one who finds it kinda weird that people still wear watches ... ? I haven't owned one regularly myself since I was like fourteen, well over a decade ago. Since then I just check my mobile for the time. Got a watch as a birthday gift when I turned 22, and I wore it for a while so as not to make the person who gave it to me feel bad, but even then when people would ask me for the time I'd dig out my phone, despite having the watch on. Ah, the almost-bygone era ...

That said, that IS a very nice watch. Probably costs an arm and a leg, though. Am pretty sure he'll get tons of help with "designing" and exclusive model, to make sure the final product is up to par, but I'd love to see what he would make if given complete free reigns. A fully themed, no outside help Mesuty watch! Any guesses what it would look like? Am thinking he'd somehow find a way to incorporate abs ...

(As I typed this my mind strayed to other Real-themed watches and when I tried to picture what a watch designed by Sergio would look like and the mental image alone caused my eyes to bleed. Please, people, keep Sergio AWAY from any fashion design studio, for the love of good taste!)
