If I had to sign a Real Madrid player it would be the German
Fàbregas: "I greatly admire Özil"
Sergi Font. Barcelona
02/14/2013
Cesc Fàbregas is very clear when he's asked about which Real Madrid players he would sign for Barcelona. Some weeks ago, Sandro Rosell revealed that "there is a Real Madrid player that I greatly admire, but I'm not saying who because all hell would break loose". A few days ago it was Pedro who said "I would sign Sergio Ramos". This time Cesc gave his honest opinion.
The Barcelona midfielder chose Özil: "I admire him a lot. I can relate to him because he plays in that roaming attacking midfield role that I played in at Arsenal and I think we would play well together. I can relate to him, we're very similar"

Mama cat = Özilites
Kitten = Özil
Oh, okay, am not THAT defensive about it, mainly because I can rest assured that it'll never happen. Would love for Özil to stay at Real for a good few more years to come (he's said he wants to play for Real until retirement, which would be even better, but am not sure whether that was sincere or just some PR assurance to the madridistas), but even if he were to leave I can't imagine him ever moving to Barcelona. I mean ... is that even possible/survivable?! Has any Real/Barca player gone to play for their biggest rival? That would be the ultimate betrayal, wouldn't it? And am sure Cesc knows this and was just speaking hypothetically.
But it's always nice to see how much his skills are appreciated/admired, even among team rivals :)

I can picture Özil playing for Barca.

Date: 2013-02-15 09:21 am (UTC)I dunno, I can appreciate Real what with Özil and Xabi playing there.
And let's not forget that before Özil signed with Madrid he asked Barca if there were interested repeatedly.
When asked, “Do you have any wish, any big ambition, perhaps in a few years time?”
“My dream team has always been Barcelona, and I would like to play there someday. It has been my dream since I was a small boy,” was his unequivocal answer.

Date: 2013-02-15 09:25 am (UTC)... But, yeah, I know Özil was originally interested in Barca. I think there's even a pic floating about with him holding a Barca shirt prior to joining Real.
BUT that was in the past. You ... You can't have him! How could you even THINK about breaking up the bromances he's accumulated over the years?!
(Am leaving for work now. Be back in a few hours ^_^)

By the way, this won't happen soon. When does mesuts contract expire? Real wouldn't ever SELL him to Barca.

Date: 2013-02-15 03:08 pm (UTC)LOL Would be a very ballsy move from Barcelona to go knocking on Real's doors and ask them to sell Özil. As long as he continues to work his magic I don't see Real selling him anytime soon. Neither do I see him wanting to leave the Bernabeu anytime soon. He's looks pretty happy and settled in Madrid. But you never know ...
From a bromance-loving fangirl POV I'll mourn the day he leaves this handsome team, but even more heartbreaking: the end of Samisut (at club level, at least)?? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Can't we move to petition them as a packaged deal, that wherever one transfers to, the other has to join him?!

Date: 2013-02-15 03:14 pm (UTC)you never know what happens the next seasons. I mean, barca wouldn't have a real use for him at the moment anyway. but maybe in a year or so? so much can change til then. and i don't think he s given up his childhood dream.
this is a barca fan speaking but besides mesut, sabi and xabi i am not a fan of madrids players. barca however... i love so many of them so much. urgh. and they re welcoming to players who give it a try so...

Date: 2013-02-15 03:28 pm (UTC)THAT SAID ... I have grown to love the other players, for all their skills and faults. (Never thought I'd ever even like Ronaldo, but that's the power of Crözil for you.) While Mesut has had a couple of poor run-ins with Mou, the fact that he's happy and comfortable with his team mates is good enough for me. All bromancing jokes aside, he's built up a good repertoire with them and Real supporters, so it would understandably be considered quite a slap in the face if he were to then join Real's fiercest rivals.
My mom always said, "Never say never" (NO, Beliebers, Bieber did NOT coin that phrase so stop trying to claim it!) and while it would probably take several months to wash down the bile at the back of my throat at seeing him in a Barca shirt, in the end I'd have no choice but to accept it because Mesut wills it XD

Date: 2013-02-15 03:33 pm (UTC)dutch national team was my first love, by the way. i cried 2006 :(
this time they weren't even worth rooting for, in my opinion. but in general i support germany, spain and holland. maybe a bit much but it means i won't be too sad as long as one of the 3 does well.

Date: 2013-02-15 03:43 pm (UTC)Eurgh. Euro 2012 was a massive disappointment. (I *really* ought to get to work on that Mesut v Elftal at Euro 2012 spam already.) Came in so promising, but that shock defeat to Denmark marked the beginning of the end. Cue usual locker room unrest and inner fighting and all the usual Dutch drama and we failed to get a single point. Ouch.
And then Löw decided to play mixy-matchy with the lineup and Germany lost to Italy. And I will leave it at that because when I get started on that ... particular match I usually end up crying, naked and spasming in my shower.

Played for Germany. Then refused to play for Germany. Played for Barca. Played for Madrid. PLAYED FOR ATLETI.
Coached Madrid...
He used to play Bach on the piano with his wife in the evening!

i'm sorry there aren't enough hotties for you in barcelona, cesc. but calm the fuck down.
