My Mesut Experience

I moved to Madrid a couple of months ago and got a side job in a building a block over from the Bernabeu.  Every night when I walk home I pass the player's entrance (as well as the VIP entrance right next to it, where I ran smack dab into Rafael Nadal when he was a guest of the team at the Man City match).

Tonight a nice big crowd had built up on either side of the driveway leading down into the stadium, and the team bus was parked on the hill, so I jumped into the fray and hoped I would haven't to wait too long for a glimpse of some of the players.  About twenty minutes later the first car zoomed down the hill--it was Iker Casillas.  He was followed one at a time by the rest of the team, with one exception; Sergio Ramos didn't come alone.  No prizes for guessing who he had given a lift to--Mesut hopped out of the passenger seat and darted into the stadium while the crowd was still going nuts for Sergio.

Photos to come soon (hopefully--a friend is sending some she got because mine were all a blur!) but I'm happy to report that Mesut is just as gorgeous and shy in person (if not a little slighter than I thought he would be) as he is on tv!

So many people who see Mesut in person comment on him being smaller/slighter than they thought he was. Had the privilege myself of seeing him and the boys at Schiphol airport after their win against Ajax and, to be honest, he's exactly the size I expected. Was stunned for a moment, though, because his built and walk suddenly reminded me of an former classmate of mine! Strangely, though he had his capped pulled down over his face, the first thing that stood out for me was the fact that he has really good skin! I mean it's flawless! Kinda annoying that his legs are shapelier than mine will ever be, but he's got a clean, smooth face as well! Was more surprised about the other guys not being as tall as I expected, especially Ronaldo and Karim.
Side note: then again, I'm just over six foot tall myself, so a lot of people appear short to me ... which totally sucks because I prefer taller men and yet almost everyone on the team's just my height (or slightly shorter when I'm in heels) so there goes my future as Mrs [insert currently single Real player here]. Oh well, still love them all and enjoy watching them be ... just themselves :D

I think I found him slight because he was standing next to Sergio when I first saw him. He's as tall as I thought he'd be, he just appears more slender in person.

With your height you could still date Varane! Isn't he 6'5 or some such craziness? There's still hope! ;)

Well I almost completely overlooked him at the airport. When viewing group pics my strategy is to locate Sami first because he's easier to spot and Mesut's usually at his side, so I thought I'd be clever and do the same when they arrived at Schiphol. There were about forty fans there to wave them off (it was around midnight) and it didn't take long for people to start climbing over the security line to take pics with the players as they walked through. Am a firm believer in not getting all up in people's personal space unless they consent, so I hung back, but I had a good spot (and, as aforementioned, am tall so I was just staring over peoples' heads while filming on my phone). I immediately spotted Sami when he walked in so then I quickly started looking round for Mesut but he was nowhere to be seen so I thought I'd somehow missed him in all the excitement. Thinking I'd filmed everyone, I turned off my phone ... AND THEN MESUT JUST WALKED RIGHT PASSED ME!! Am talking less than two inches distance between us because he was trying to side-step some people. Goddamnit! By the time I turned my camera back on he was already at the check in and the crowd was right behind him, blocking my view. He was the LAST player to get off the bus, well after the rest of the team was already up ahead, and didn't look too happy: can't imagine his mood was improved when he was then mobbed by a group of fifteen or so Turkish teens. The fact that he'd isolated himself from the rest, especially Sami, worried me, to be honest, but I guess he was just bummed about only getting to play the last fifteen minutes of the match. Was relieved to see him smiling and back to his happy self a couple days later :)

As for potential football husband (LOL Love how I say that as though it's a given) ... Well, am a German nation team supporter, and most of them are freaking tall, so I could always cast my line into that pool XD

You don't need to get upset that you could not take pictures of MESUT. The main thing that you saw it . The more he passed close to you. This is the same perfect!!!!

Just wished I'd been more prepared. It was quite a walk from the entrance to where I was standing, so I could have watched him approach from a distance. Instead I only caught a glimpse of him just as he passed me and then he was gone again. Now I know why he can be so deadly on the pitch. I had trouble picking him up as he shuffled though a relatively empty airport hall; I can imagine he's even harder to detect when he's running about during a game amongst all the other players.

Yes, his manner, his style of play are sometimes invisible . but his role in the game it is difficult to overestimate. Mesut one imperceptible movement can coordinate and aggravate the team game. he is one of the few who is able to do so.

LOL Indeed.
To be fair, the Dutch are one of the tallest people around (we were the tallest a few years ago, but I think we've recently been surpassed by an African tribe(?)), and in my university classes alone there are about ten guys who stand at least half a foot taller than me ... but none of them are sexy Real Madrid players. Curses! :(
