Mesut scored a beautiful penalty, got hugged by a big friendly German and had his hair nice... (funny German boulevardesque thing: 'to have your hair nice' = 'er hat die Haare schön')
It was a really fun match to watch (more so then the SAD Sweden vs Faroe Islands match...)! Mesut played very well! Even the commentator noted his new haircut. I didn't like it in the pictures I've seen but he looked totally adorable and now I love it, haha.
Hi, everyone! New user here....I just joined so I could post to this group. I discovered the amazingness of Ozil earlier this year, and this site keeps coming up in my web searches - so I figured I'd better join and stop lurking! I'm excited to be here. Are most of you located in Europe, or the US, or other various places? Just wondering.
So, where can I go to watch a reply of this match? I'm in the US, don't think it was on live TV here, but I was at work while it was on anyways...
Welcome to insanity! :) Am a Dutchie myself currently residing in the Netherlands(yes, yes, shame on me for preferring a German over my own national players XD. Rojadirecta is the most comprehensive site, though it can be a nightmare to navigate. Fullmatches.com is another site I personally like.
As a Dutchie too, I know how you feel! It's just to me Dutch football is not appealling especially the final against Spain in 2010, that was just embarrassing with de Jongs karatekick against the always classy Xabi. And also maybe it's just me but the Dutch national team seems to have never heardof the word bromance while German team is nailing it;) But I would never outspeak my love for the German team since my dad is still mourning over the lost final in 1974:p
Luckily my dad doesn't give a toss about football. In fact, during major tournaments he can't wait for Holland to be knocked out because all the Oranje-gekte drives *him* insane; he walks through Albert Heijn/C1000 aisles glaring at all the orange-tinted products XD
And, yeah, Dutch bromance is practically non-existing. Then again, Holland is infamous for in-team fighting. My favourite players were Van Bronckhorst and Van der Sar, and with the two of them retired am still struggling to find a player to personally root for (Bergkamp, it's been YEARS, but I still miss you too!).
During the EK/WK I always support Holland first and foremost, mainly because ... Meh, Dutch pride, I guess. Honestly, while I was thrilled we made the finals in 2010, by the time the match was over I was glad we did NOT win because that performance was disgraceful and would not have deserved a trophy of any kind. I was mightily impressed by Germany in WC 2010 (the Germany v Uruguay third place match was actually far more entertaining--and a lot less dirty--than the Holland v Spain finals!), but I only became a fan of them after Holland had been knocked out shamefully early in Euro 2012 (my dad was beside himself with glee) and I needed a new team to root for. I became an Özil fan during their semi against Italy, mainly because I thought he was the best German player and I felt frustrated for him; he kept making chances and the others would just waste it, but he kept on trying. Plus he scored that consolation penalty for the team. I really admired him after that, even though they lost.
Ha ha ha! Thank you. The haircut comments this week were making me laugh so hard, I had to get in on everything after that! I will look at all of these sites. As long as one is workable, I will be a happy camper.
I'm in the US as well! What part? I'm in VA near DC. I saw yesterday's match on GolTV but unfortunately, La Liga games can no longer be viewed using Verizon, which is what we have. :P It's such a thorn in my side, don't get me started.
Hi there! I am in Colorado. We moved here about a year ago from the Southeast. Thanks for the warm welcome :) We have direcTV, so I'm able to watch a good deal of the La Liga matches on that. However, I get so angry that we can't see any of the German World Cup Qualifying matches on direcTV, it seems. There are some of the South American ones on, but never any of the European ones that I can find. It is really frustrating... But at least if I can watch on the internet, that's better than nothing.
I have the opposite problem as you: I can't watch a single Liga match because of that stupid beIN Sport thing, but of course every random World Cup qualifier is on! So at least I was able to watch Spain, Portugal, Germany and the US this weekend, but I have to resort to crappy streams most of the time.
It was so refreshing to see him play so confidently and without an ounce of hesitation. My comm couldn't stop talking about his fluidity! And I felt so relaxed. It was a beautiful, beautiful thing.
This was after the penalty. I swear, he "fluffed" his hair as if to say, "It was the hair!", and that's Reus' hand reaching in at the end to ruffle it. They shared lots of smiles. LOVE <3
AHHHH! I can't handle it! It's my new favorite pairing! Ever since the Euro. And they're both from two of my three favorite teams without being rivals! Well, except for in the CL. OH GOD.
But Mesut-Götze is also pretty cute. I mean Götzil, of course. Check out this Götze-interview. Özil is teasing him towards the end and they actually (!!) commenton his haircut:
What a game and what wonderful goals by Reus, Kroos, Klose and Özil! That penalty was soo carefree! :D But but.. he always scores to the right corner... during the Euro-s Buffon was jumping in the right corner (he knew where the ball was going.. if other goalkeepers watch the games like I do.. they should know which corner he usually scores :O but I dunno)... Too bad about Sami and his minor injury :( And that yellow card for Reus.. wth was that??? The ref should be ashamed!
Edit: "Sami was replaced after the first half because of a muscle strain of his left thigh. His status is questionable for Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Sweden."
I had the game playing on live stream while I puttered around the house (bleh, housekeeping) so by the time I was able to sit down and just watch the game there was about thirty minutes of playing time. Bambi scores a great penalty, I cheer, but during the celebration I went, " ... Waaaaaiiiit a minute. Something's missing ... WHERE THE FUCK IS SAMI????" XD
No match translation in my country as well :(( It was so painful as i waited for it for a whole week to actuallly see Mesut play with the new haircut! :)
And could not watch it online as well as the speed of the internet is very slow here :"(
Did you see it? He casually slung back his shoulders, kissed his finger and waggled it cheekily at the crowd. It was sweet/hilarious.
Also, anyone know where I can download full football matches online? I've got some games I missed/want to watch again, and I can't find any where to download them.
YES THE SWAGGER! I meant to write that in my earlier comment. The way he reacted, so calm and cool... I thought something had gone wrong. But no, it was just Mes, being all swaggerish. I think these penalties he's been taking are making him feel like a total stud.
The pic of Podolski kissing Mesut's ear is just so beautiful! It's all about his arm wrapped around Mesut's neck like he would never let him go and the ear-kissing which is quite intimate if we think about it.
Oh and I love Mesut's attitude during the penalty. With him, everything comes naturally, the way he scored just seemed to be effortless. That's what I love about Mesut's style. It is just so natural, it almost seems to be easy. I don't know much about football but what I know is that, in all my life, I have never seen someone play like him, I can see that he is unique.
Gotta admit that I'm in love with this community :3 am sorry I'm not new here actually am a silent reader XD but really am so0o in love with your comments some of them have the same thoughts as mine =D hopefully I will be active in this lovely community ;) and @jenny_jenkins I'm your fan my dear..
oh btw I was glad he cut his hair, it's not like I don't love his long hair but I really missed his old style and finally he cut it ^^
I know i'm gonna be off topic with this question now:P,but does by any chance somebody know where the German team is going to stay in Berlin?I mean which Hotel? And congrats to whoever is running this community, you've done a really good job.Keep up the good work!!
i read that it's the same one they stayed at in 2006 for the WC (Bierhoff said it almost brings tears to their eyes to be bacl there...), I don't know which one that is, though...
Am I the only one, who has the impression, that Sami had his hair done, too? Couldn't find a picture for proof. But if it's right, there might be some reasons: Maybe two styles were cheaper than one ;-) or one of them was afraid of the hairdresser's scissors and the other one went along to show, that it was not dangerous... More ideas on that subject?

Date: 2012-10-12 10:24 pm (UTC)I love it when Per hugs Mesut! They used to hug all the time!
And Per would protect him from big bad people on other teams!
And here's the penalty:
STUNNING!

A couple of times!
He never does that!
Though rubbing heads is a favourite Mannschaft celebration!
And always next to each other in group hugs!
