The Mesuty Roundup & Pretty Pictures Post Part 2!

What are the boys doing?





Well - there's never any mystery about what the National Team gets up to when they're together! It's all fun and games!

And it's very apropos. With Mesut back in Germany this week a newspaper wrote him up as Germany's best player - who is not however rated as such in Germany because of his personality. He may drive a car worth 200,000 Euros and vacation on a friend's yacht, but the paper noted that with the National team he comes across "as a clumsy little boy - who just plays really good football!"


So some very sweet pictures indeed of the bug-eyed boy!

One of those close-up photos shows every facial hair & pore. Good heavens. :p I love the masked bandito on the (very windy) practice pitch.

It was really weird seeing parts of the German NT squaring off against each other. For the CL, I'm totally pro Bayern, but it was a bit tough seeing Sami & Mesut on the losing side.

When everyone in the Madrid comm was freaking out over Mueller being subbed on I was so proud!

It seemed like Bayern spent a fair amount of time marking him, so they certainly respect his abilities. The Bayern midfield was superior during the first leg, but I expect a real uphill battle in the 2nd game. Madrid's away goal is vital, and if they score again... well, maybe you'll be playing Chelsea (!) or Barca. If Chelsea makes it past Barca, I feel that either Bayern or Madrid will beat them soundly in the final.

The German word used was best translated as "clumsy" - it was meant with affection - it was in Der Spiegel, which is a serious magazine too! So I thought it was especially sweet.

I have always wondered why do these amazing athletes need someone to hold on to when they stretch their hamstrings? My guess is they like to hold on to their bromance as much as possible

I just thought the Magazine quote about Mesut with the National team was best illustrated by pictures of the clumsy boy himself - with Sami - with the national team!
