So yes - you don't have to remind me that I'm behind on match spams and have a press conference to translate before the big game tomorrow against France. But sod it people - you're getting an early post with vital information that could not be withheld a moment longer!


Meet little Javier:

He's Mesut's "biggest fan" and got to meet him at Valdebebas sometime before Mesut left Madrid.

And frankly, if he grows into his enormous ears as nicely as Mesut has, this kid (whose taste in footballers shows an intelligence beyond his young years) is going to be a heart-stealer!

So there we have it! Mesut hitting all those "good with children" buttons that the majority of this community have already been not-so-secretly harbouring - especially since, as I pointed out yesterday, "kindergarten teacher" narrowly beat out "adorable bug-eyed, crinkly-eared actor playing wide-eyed, clueless pizza-delivery boy who can't speak Spanish as unlikely hero who saves the world when Martians attack Madrid in thriller film" as Mesut's likely profession if he weren't a footballer in the community's friending meme!

If THAT wasn't enough, our very own beloved Lola - otherwise known to you as our darling mod lovinthelads - is surely going to pass out when she sees evidence of...

The Cesc Fabregas Mesut Özil Connection!

So there was Cesc Fabregas, inexplicable recipient of Lola's affections, in Malaga with his National Team (who can't lose him to his "child-hood team" - and good for them!) - SIGNING AN ÖZIL JERSEY...

You are not dreaming. This is real. Please excuse me while I prevent Lola from jumping into the computer monitor.

Of course, less bromantically inclined fans are already pointing out the conclusion we would all come to if we were nasty cynics: that the fan wanted to remind Cesc of a certain ten point gap!

He's smiling too! Possibly through his teeth!

As (who wrote up the incident) described it thus: Cesc Fàbregas protagonizó una de las escenas curiosas de la mañana en la llegada de la Selección a Málaga. Entre los cientos de aficionados que aclamaban a los internacionales, uno solicitó el autógrafo de Cesc... en una camiseta roja del Real Madrid. Por su puesto, el futbolista del FC Barcelona no dudó en estampar su firma en la camiseta con el '10' de Özil.

Cesc Fabregas was the protagonist in a curious scene...signing the number 10 jersey belonging to Özil.

Now of course when evidence of the Real Fabiözil (pun intended) surfaced a few days ago...

...we were in a heated argument over this very topic. I feel I restrained myself when I failed to point out that there was no evidence of any kind of a Cesc/Özil bromance.

I can admit when I've been wrong!

Do you even need to ask? Is there anyone on earth who is nicer to us than andriy_7? I would think not! <3<3

This was Mesut's reaction when David Villa slapped him. He was hit first by Villa (in the face) then by Pinto (again in the face) and then (by accidental, possibly - again in the face) by one of the Barca officials who pushed him away when it happened.

Gonzalo Higuain responded SO FAST to Mesut being struck it was hilarious. He had Pinto by the throat and had to be pulled away. It was within a split second.

Mesut, understandably completely lost it. It was in the 120th minute of the Super-Copa second leg. It was past 1 o'clock in the morning (the Liga idiots decided to have kick-off at 11 pm) and everyone was over-wrought. Except Sami, of course. Sami was the picture of calm and grace.

As for Sami: of course Mesut is irritating! But you'd put up with him, right? Sami adores Mesut! Mesut's a joyful irritant!

I've seen little bits of that crazy supercopa game but not the stuff from that angle. I didn't know he got slapped that many times. I'd be pissed off too from all that.

I can only imagine Mesut is a little shit who gets a bit out of control sometimes but then he comes snuggling up to you later with those big Bambi eyes and all is forgiven.
