Kissed Into Goal With A School-Girl's Touch! Mesut Scores & Assists Against Zaragoza: Part Two!

The genesis of the second goal - deep in Madrid's half.

The genesis of the second goal - deep in Madrid's half.
The Match Spam!
Last year, Mesut did not start this fixture (though he had scored against Zaragoza in his first outing against them). Madrid lost the game 3-2 at home, with Zaragoza scoring the first two goals before Madrid got a sniff of the back of the net.

The boys had had a difficult week and a half of course - a loss at home to Barca, a physical game against Athletic, and a draw with Barca (away) they probably should have won.
And Mesut immediately did his bit! Just look at this lovely pass for big Benzi!

And this gorgeous free kick (from two angles) which Kaka nearly had in the back of the net!

Or as our favourite commentator put it: Marvellous again from little Avatar eyes - puts it on an absolute altar for Kaka - it would have been wonderful - expletive deleted! [Could have been] kissed into goal with a school-girl's touch!

But never fear! After a number of chances missed, Kaka gripped the bull by the horns (so to speak) and scored Madrid's first. Since the team were already down one goal it was a relief!

Mesut gave him a nice congratulatory pat on the back...

...And spent the rest of the half looking bug-eyed and gorgeous (Marca: When The German's Eyes Are Bulging, We've Come To Expect Great Things!)

The boys came out of the dressing room, resolved to get their win!

Which they did! The first go-ahead goal started in the corner with Mesut being very fancy! The player opposite him learned a key lesson - just try to get the corner next time! (Ray Hudson: He's seen that trick before!)

As the following gif will show - in 27 seconds of

Crispy was awfully pleased. Mesut (as seen above) was given a cuddle by Kaka before the two joined the celebrations to congratulate him on his stellar work! Bromantic stuff!

And here's Crispy's goal from another angle - which is NOT offside -

That many scoring chances created, and such a lovely assist - Mesut more than deserved his lovely goal (his FIRST of the league season!) when it came about 6 minutes later.

In an amusing turn of events, Ray Hudson of GolTV had been chattering away with Phil Shoen (his lovable side-kick) about Mesut just as the goal went in!
The economy of the way that kid plays - the wonderful consideration of every pass he stitches together, the wonderful selection of his passes, the way he weighs everything up,
When you see a player like Ozil that selects the right pass at the right time under the right conditions that's what makes him so special...[That's the PRECISE moment Mesut scores].

Well I love him! Even the crickets in the trees love him. Fabulous from Avatar eyes again! - Maysoot Maysoot Maysoot...power is nothing without control.
Look at the dexterity, the power and the placement. Wonderful dagger pulled out and sent blisteringly home from a player that is the pride of Germany - Maysoot Ozil - the future of Real Madrid - the future!

Ray: I have never understood any critics of this kid. "He doesn't last the game! He doesn't have the physique!", his coach has dropped him and has been playing terrible mind-games with him. Just put him out man!
Phil: Hate to say it - 60 minute mark - this is normally when they pull Ozil out -
Ray: They'd better NOT!

Tsk - lot of people saying he's gotta do this and they've gotta do that and he's gotta be this and he's gotta be that...If they just play the kid he produces the diamonds every time like he's playing in Aladdin's cave!

Well, as we can see - Mesut got lots of love from his teammates at around the same time he was getting all this love over the airwaves. They were probably well aware he hadn't scored yet in the league! Pepe's cuddle - where he picked him up off the ground - was especially sweet - and Mesut rubbed noses with Carvalho!

And received a way-cool low-high-five from Granero!

And the crowd began chanting his name soon after!

Mesut got lots of love from the crowd, who chanted his name at one point.
One last look at his gorgeous strike -

Media Reviews - Leftovers!
Media reviews were summed up more comprehensively in this match spam's part one
But there was more where that came from! RealMadrid.com for example!

Yesterday, Mesut made the cover of Marca for a third day in a row!

...in a piece meant to highlight that the team is well on its way to a league-record breaking number of goals. They have 70 with half the season gone. The record is held by 1931s Aston Villa! Mesut has been on the cover of Marca 5 times this week!
And I'm sure we all agree that putting Mesut on the cover with Crispy is rather a compliment, actually!
Mesut also had a post-match interview in Spanglish - which was made some sweet fun of over at Cuatro. It was posted on this site and is now fully translated and updated with that translation of Cuatro's flowery praise for "Mesut the dancer" - so check out the translation and love to

You can tell he's thinking "I wish they'd slow down!"

Notice how he spits out "Gracias" and then runs off! How is it possible for one boy to be THAT sweet?

And everyone is smiling and laughing when he leaves too!

And this:
I love how Pepe lifts Ozzi up as though he weighs nothing!
And-and how this gif explains how much of a merry-maker he is.
Squee.
Language barrier easily shatters at the glorious presence of a shy Mesut Özil!
