The Conspiracy Deepens: Mesut Seizes Control of His Facebook Page!

As has been noted in the comments and the edit of [livejournal.com profile] sunrise969's increasingly hilarious post (the entry before this one) Mesut's Facebook entry could not possibly have been written by Mesut, unless he was so drunk the elements of German grammar and basic German spelling had left him.

In a post before that one, we had the suspicion that his Twitter account, though it may now be "real" by default because he feels he can no longer close it now that Arbeloa (official Twitter welcome party) and the Real Madrid website masters have welcomed him aboard, was opened by the same person who had been posting bizarre Facebook entries under his name.

So let's do a quick review of all the strange and inexplicable activity on Mesut's Facebook account over the past 3 days!

1. Mesut posts a picture...

...of a person purporting to be himself, but who is not himself. The German beneath is atrocious ("babelfish" as [livejournal.com profile] sashatwen put it elsewhere) and the community is perplexed, leaving many comments to that effect in the post created by [livejournal.com profile] die4shin_sin in this post here.

2. Mesut "Joins" Twitter

...And is greeted by Arbeloa and various of the Real Madrid Twittering accounts...

And there is much rejoicing from various of the Twittering classes! The community remains suspicious however because of the previous Facebook misadventure and suspicions are reignited when...

3. Mesut Updates Facebook Again

...In German that is, if possible, even worse than in the first message with the picture that is not of him!

It reads as follows:

What could possibly be going on, asks the community? Mesut's written German is normally quite perfect. And what's with the declaration of love. He never does that. And why are his verb endings all weird?

4. Community Member Takes Action...

In Act 4 of this drama, [livejournal.com profile] magician10 takes one for the community by leaving a snarky message on Mesut's Facebook page informing whoever is doing the updating (or, perhaps, the Nike overlords who occasionally check his page for embarrassing crap) that this German is unacceptable and that Google translate could be doing a better job (confirmed by [livejournal.com profile] sunrise969 who takes the trouble of checking to see what Google would come up with) and then about an hour later...

5. A Corrected Mesuty Message in Mesuty-German appears

...and what's more...

The picture and post of the Mesut who was not Mesut (see note 1) have now disappeared...

The new Mesut message reads entirely like our usual Mesuty offering - lacking in sentimentality, the German quite perfect, with no soppy love note at the end.

It's like a detective novel isn't it? Or a radio drama on Friday night on the BBC in the 1950s! What could have happened? Did Nike step in? Did Sami Khedira call him up to say "WTF - and don't do it again, I was peacefully snuggling Lena on the edge of a Canyon!" Did a relative notice? Did Mesut login and think "I should never have given Serdar my password!" Did [livejournal.com profile] magician10's cry in the dark make the difference? Share your theories below!

Sami agrees with Jenny and [livejournal.com profile] die4shin_sin's theory on this.
