There was wide speculation at one point that his nickname in Madrid was "Nemo".
Since he has a stronger left "fin", a crooked smile, and bug-eyes it seemed reasonable enough to nickname him for everyone's favourite sea anemone.
In the meantime, Richard David Precht (a German philosopher) blandly informed The Sueddeutsche Zeitung that "I think Ozil is perfectly situated to be an idol for children. He has the face of a turtle in a children's picture-book."
