The world's most adorable woman - the funny, passionate, sweet, graceful, talented, fast and fabulous footballer Lira Bajramaj - Germany's glamour girl in the sport - is backing Mesut to shine today!

And she thinks we'll see him in the final!

It's obviously fate, because Google knows everything!
Also: In addition to Ozil, jersey, feet, injury, transfer market & Facebook there's also "Bauch" - which means belly!!!!

Özil works hard

The semi-final will depend on the ingenuity of Mesut Ozil. He is a creative player who can make the difference. He is just 23 year old - and already the director of the German game. He has improved enormously over the course of the tournament. I'm impressed with how much he's been moving and how he runs into space. He doesn't only want to impress, but to work for the team.

Miroslav Klose helps him in this in particular. With him as the top player there is no static focal point; instead, a real playing partner. That's why if I were in Joachim Loew's place I'd put Klose in - and also because he plays in Rome with Lazio.


Now it does occur to one: maybe if he does this in suitable style she will have an epiphany about how they are meant to be together! Mesut!! We want assists today, slick passing, and maybe a goal!

LOVE THIS! I love what she said about him (and she's so right, especially about Miro!), I love how you can make me laugh over something as mundane as a google search (how do you do that?!), and most importantly love seeing those gifs over and over and over again.

So every time you talk about "wailing" it makes me chuckle because one of my favorite singing groups is aptly named The Wailin' Jennys! And they're Canadian too! But beautiful harmonizing voices... Hate to post off-topic but here's an example... (Although, the lyrics here are quite related to the sappiness!!)

I LOVE THEM - I can't believe you know them!

They are ALWAYS on the CBC - constantly - every weekend - since they are a favourite of Stuart McLean of the Vinyl Cafe!

I'm pretending for a few minutes that the last several hours did not transpire and am responding to this like a person who doesn't give a crap...

I can't believe YOU know them! No one I know knows them! I discovered them on Pandora one day and have, for the most part, fallen in love. Not every song, or every album, but some songs just stick to me, ya know? I had an opportunity to see them in DC and somehow it passed me by. I won't let it happen again.

And I saw the mention about the opera... I do so love a beautiful voice, I just don't have a lot of experience with opera. :/ But I can appreciate beautiful singing, no matter the kind of music! I wanted to ask who you were talking about in that thread so I could look her up and have a listen. :D

If only there were a group called The Wailin' Jills... because that's what I feel like doing right now. :'(

The game was over during a 10 minute stretch - so grieving was difficult. Only one team has ever come back from being two goals behind - West Germany in 1976. It was not going to happen again.

I had chest pains and had to turn it off for a few minutes at the end of the first half, but after that it was okay so long as the sound was off.

Mesut's penalty was beautiful. I thought he played well - but no one was running or going forward when he needed them. It was awful to watch him struggle.

Honest to god I did not expect him to take that penalty. I had looked away and was talking, only to look up and see him prepared to take it! I SWEAR TO GOD have never been more freaked out or stressed during a football match to date (granted, it's only been 2 years...). I knew it wasn't really going to change the result of the game, but I just didn't want him to let the pressure get to him. I had never seen him take a penalty shot before! I had no idea what to expect!

It was fabulous. He was fabulous.

I hope you're ok... I worry. I know how I feel and I'm not half as invested as you (is that even possible?!?!) :)

It's been more than 25 years, and my national team is my most important loyalty, of course. Compared to Germany, club failings mean almost nothing (though they hurt at the time - a lot - which simply speaks to my attachment to Germany).

I felt as though I would faint. And then I recovered. I dealt with it by accepting it was over immediately. And now it's all right. Stats helped with that. I think the player were less distraught than they might have been.

It's an achievement: to make 4 semifinals. And it is unfortunate only one of them was a win. And no final win either :(

I agree... This felt different than a club loss. Like I said, I don't have a lot of experience, but I watched both Real Madrid and Barca lose on the way to the CL final. I was disappointed, for sure, and they hurt! But I love this team in a different way. Can't explain it. It's not my country. It's not the individuals (even though an outsider observing me would say so). It's the team, the history, the hard work, the will to win, the LACK OF DRAMA, the beautiful game they (can) play... Others hate the international side of football and only focus on the club level. But this is where my true heart lies I believe! I want it for them. A final win. Maybe in 2 years... Maybe this is what was needed to get them to the WC final. And if it is, we should be grateful. (Trying really hard here...)

I want Germany to have fun at the world cup and not worry about it. They are not likely to win. It's in Brazil. No European team has ever won in South America.

NO ONE is good enough for her. NO ONE. Did you ever read my translation of the documentary on her? It's in my journal (the video was taken down unfortunately - because it doesn't read 1/10th as good as the experience of having that girl on screen).

She's amaze-balls, mature, confident and stunning - and can read and stuff - while Mesut is a silly little boy with a ball and questionable relatives.

(But since absolutely no one is good enough, it may as well be Mesut...which is logical...I think...whatever!)

lira + mesut are my OTP; people who refuse to acknowledge their perfect chemistry are so blinded by their beauty that i'm okay with raving about how they are meant to be so much on my own until they come to terms with lira and mesut being together. i will forever dream of them together on a fantasy team.

she is spot on about mesut, and i like to imagine this is her raving love and adoration for watching him play all the time. true story.

this is the best compliment i have received to date, what an honor to be an inspiration for my favorite couple of all time. and i bet it was brilliant, beautiful, and perfect!
