Mesut meets the gray lady

There is a lovely article by Chris Nyari about Mesut in the New York Times. I hope the link below works. I'm on an iThingie, and struggling to cut & paste.

This was very nice! I'm particularly a little giddy that it's in the NY Times. Thank you for sharing!

I actually follow this guy on twitter and I'm always favoriting his tweets because he's often singing Mesut's praises.

I'm reading! I love that first paragraph. :')

Er, the date?

2010 - not recent. But I suppose the article makes it clear enough!

My favourite part:

No player has fascinated me more at the World Cup than Mesut Özil. He has the languid self-assurance on the ball that comes only to the greatest footballers. Where others are hurried, he has time. He conjures space with a shrug. His left foot can, with equal ease, caress a pass or unleash a shot.

Make a girl swoon.

Anyone who praises Mesut is a friend of mine. But ...

"There’s a third reason, beyond brilliance and birthright, for my fascination with Özil. He is probably only on the team because “The Big Man” of the German squad, Michael Ballack, was injured a few weeks before the tournament."

Yeah ... wrong. Mesut's place in the starting line up for the WC was long assured prior to the injury. It was Sami who was Ballack's last-minute replacement (and hasn't he filled the role well? ^_^)

Özil, at 21, oozes class. I just love that line.

Sniffle. I'm going to have to print both!
