Baller got Wheels

Dear Mesut:

Lola has very specific fantasies about men in fast cars.  To this end, it makes her very, VERY happy that you have invested in an over priced toy:

As a matter of fact, Lola calls such cars a "Fuck-Me Ferrari"

I do wish it was red.  Red cars are sexier...

Red cars are for old men *nods*

Excuse me?

*giggle*

X

Mesut has been recorded at various points over the past year in interviews claiming to be a home-body, "watching prices" and that he doesn't smoke or drink alcohol.

Those of us who observe him carefully are sure he'd like to be all these things, but he has just bought a flash car for an enormous amount of money, seems flushed and winded after games and there are too many pictures of him sneaking drinks in night-clubs to make it plausible that he doesn't drink.

In other words: he's a typical well-behaved young man - who likes going out occasionally, likes the occasional cigarette and likes to have a drink now and then - he just doesn't like to admit it.

It's all very, very harmless in my view. He just doesn't tell his mother ;)

He's very young. It's hard to tell what footballers will turn out like at his age. He's young, free, influenced by others perhaps and rich as all get out! Whether he'll continue, get worse or get bored of this stuff will show in the next few years I suppose.

He probably claims not to drink/smoke because he's Muslim. It's not approved of, I believe, although not unheard of especially in more leniant muslim countries. He probably wants to be a good boy or at least portray a good image.

Well exactly.

He just wants to be good - but the trouble is there's nothing bad in anything he's doing.

He's a lovely lad - that's why we love him!

You nailed it. :)

Oooooh. Which reminds me of a certain video I always wanted to post which might just answer this question. Watch this space, or something. :D

Hmmm... I remember this specific interview (http://www.spanischer-fussball.de/realmadrid/2010/11/05/interview-mesut-oezil-spanien/) in which he said he's partial to the occasional glass of wine. Are you sure his claims to abstinence weren't retroactively attributed to him by some tumblr girls? :D

That's an excellent point.

It was a Bild interview where he said he didn't drink alcohol.

But it is seriously out of date. He was 19 when he gave that interview. He was 22 when he said he did like the occasional glass (I have translated both, of course).

He also switched preferences from Fanta to iced-tea in that time!

Well - why not? When I was 19 I didn't drink either. When I was 22 I did.

I am patiently waiting for the moment him and me can share a nice glass of single malt between ourselves... and enjoy it.

That will be the time I snatch him. :D

I'm the blended whiskey type.

Johnnie Walker Black - breakfast of champions.

When he's mature enough to like whiskey of any kind (Glenfiddich is my favourite single-malt) then we'll have to fight it out.
