The day I proved Samisut with Science!

So. For all the people going "WTF?" now, bear with me. This is a true, if slightly silly story and... I believe it is relevant to this community.

Friday means all-day biochem lab for me (I am in premed), and among our tasks was determining the molecular weight of an unknown protein. We were randomly assigned numbered vials and me and my lab partner happened to get #23 und #24.

Football geek that I am, of course I go, "Sweet! Those are Özil's and Khedira's jersey numbers!" (imagine strangely amused lab assistant's face here.)

So, after splicing up our poor babies' disulfides with acid, heating them up and spinning them around in the centrifuge a couple of times and running them through an electric field - if Sami hadn't already hurt his adductor, I am sure he'd have torn it by then - we eventually get this darling picture which revealed to me...

THEY WERE FROM THE SAME SAMPLE. MOLECULAR LEVEL BRO_OMANCE! Can you see it now?

I remain terribly amused and hope you are, too.

BTW, I did not want to clog up everyone's lj twice and since it was my task to analyse protein #23, I chose to post this here. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] sami_khedira!
