So, randomness because I'm bored and awake at the butt crack of dawn nursing the stray kitten I've taken in, and I came across this series of tweets from Sergio:

"Buenos días a tod@s. Me gustaría aclarar un par de cosas antes de que se hablen más mentiras y sigan inventando.

"Mesut es un gran amigo y le dije hace tiempo que mi primer gol de la temporada seria para él y aprovechando su cambio me puse su camiseta.."

"
..confiando que podría ser mi primer gol. Nada más."

"
Por otra parte, mi relacion con Mourinho es buena, honesta y clara. Respeto sus decisiones y es para mí el mejor entrenador. Hala madrid..!!"

Loosely (google) translated: "
Good morning to everyone s. I would like to clarify a few things before you speak and keep inventing more lies. Mesut is a great friend and I said long ago that my first goal of the season would be for him and making her change her shirt .. I started trusting that could be my first goal. Nothing more. Moreover, my relationship with Mourinho is good, honest and clear. Respect their decisions and I am the best coach. Hala madrid ..!"

Yes, we know you love Mesut, aw, so sweet to dedicate a goal, but you lost me on the "making her change her shirt"

While I'll allow for google translate and bad grammar, I'm not sure why Mesut needs a new shirt?

I mean, yes, bb is fashion impaired, as so wonderfully proven by [livejournal.com profile] ninkki last week, but...

WE NEED SOME PHOTOS, STAT.

Anyone?  Anything?  Bueller?

X

EDIT!!!!!!

Tumblr never lets us down- right- so here's the story he's responding to:

tumblr_mb8nlk0GZK1qjuayao1_500

He was wearing Mesu's shirt under his own at the MATCH

*wells up*

THAT'S SO SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll not be getting an argument from me on this point.

This is not man-management. This is airing dirty laundry in public. And like you I don't agree with that. I consider it bad management. Call it a feminine viewpoint perhaps - but as I said elsewhere, women do better in business than men.

Also there's this constant criticism: Ozil doesn't defend enough. He doesn't score enough.

Really Mou? Which do you want? Do you want him scoring? Or do you want him defending? Because you can't have both. He's not a 6. He's not a box to box midfielder. He's supposed to make things run.

He's not some fucking utility player running up and down the pitch endlessly. Either he's in a position to get the ball and get it forward or score himself, or he's supposed to be helping in defence. Well in that case - change your formation. The man in the hole in the 4-3-2-1 was never meant to be used like that.

I'm beginning to think his reputation for tactical nous may be exaggerated as well. This is not a comment on Mourinho of course, the press give him these qualities. He has never claimed them for himself.

Yes, this. In German, there's the expression of "eierlegende Wollmilchsau" (a pig which gives milk and wool while also laying eggs) to demonstrate the impossibility of an all-purposes device -- and it feels as if Mou is asking Mesut to be precisely that. Not gonna work, nope. And it does seem rather unfair at times. (Blaming a player by name, what? No, just not on. Not unless that player is guilty of open, obvious revolt.)

We'll know more after the next couple of games, I guess. Both regarding Mesut and regarding the future look of Madrid -- I'm not a fan of the 4-3-3 system as it tends to be too defensive for my liking (and a team like Madrid should not play with a defensive mindset), but we'll see. Maybe Mou proves us all wrong.

(On a sidenote: Capable female bosses are the best. Love them, adore them, cherish them. I've had two, and both have been splendid.)
