Tears fogging up your screen from

7:27 pm in Tourette. The two Real Madrid stars Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira meet up in the team hotel. They were a little surprised at the awful weather in the South of France.
Sami: You can see from my outfit [Sami shows off his short-sleeves while Mesut gravely looks up at him] I thought there'd be sunshine and warm weather but it seems it's not to be. No problem though! It's a happy thing to be here. [Sami smiles at Mesut who smiles back]
Happy to be here?
Sami [answering for both of them!]: Yes. Now the actual preparations begin for us as well now we've finally arrived and we haven't seen anything really - not even the other lads - but we are happy to have met up with the team and we're looking forward to the European Championships.
And you, Mesut. Did you see anything of the Bayern game yesterday?
Mesut: Yeah I watched the game at home. It's a shame, of course, that Bayern lost. To falter when one is come so close to winning is always very bitter, but it's in the past now and we have to look forward and hope that we can win the European Championships and I'm absolutely convinced we can manage it.
Do you understand this feeling since you yourselves had this disappointment in the semi-finals of the competition?
Is it hard to pick up and carry on or does one recover relatively fast, as a professional?
Mesut: Well of course, you always have to look forward. Umm...you learn things from failures and from disappointments. They lost yesterday but now they have to look forward and yeah...
What do you expect of the next couple of days?
Sami: We have to find our rhythm and get into the excitement. But it was a long and difficult season - lots of games in 3 competitions and also the qualification (for the Euros) - it's not always easy to clear one's head and to undertake difficult practices but I think we're going to do it and I think the coaching staff understands what they have to do.
One last thing: which is huge for the pair of you: Champions of Spain with Real Madrid. That must have been a unique experience. I ask both of you:
Sami: It was sensational, most especially to win it with the 100 points. And Mesut Ozil [looks over at him] in the Spanish starting 11 of the year [Sami refers to the newspaper poll that picks the best 11 in the whole of the Spanish league, in which Mesut was honoured late last week for topping the assists chart in Spain for a second straight year] is just super - it's all sensational. A big recognition isn't it?
Mesut (laughing): In every way, of course! The most important thing is to have got the title. For me especially since it was my first championship title (Sami Khedira has won it with Stuttgart) and I'm very proud of it..
